My friend and I were wondering when talking to someone with an accent do you read their messages with an accent in your head?

No, this has never happened to me (yet) but...

When I speak with someone that has a different accent from me, like from the US, other parts of the UK or in a foreign language that I am familiar with, then I somehow take that accent automatically when talking with them.

It is just something I do subconsciously as if I had a switch in me that makes me want to talk the same way as the person I am talking with. If I go back to my regular language, people look at me strangely and then I realize that I goofed.

My brother when we were kids did a skating camp in Canada and came back with a Canadian twang for a few weeks.
My Achilles heel is Irish accents though as I MUST consciously try to not respond even to my friends, in their accents as I think it would be rude.
