If we're all assholes from the beginning then I've met 10s of thousands BUT those who've been acceptable have been in the 10s of thousands. Those I would have a beer or bite with in the hundreds and those who would spend time in my company doing things together count in the 10s and those who I would put my cuppa down if they wanted a sandwich would be in the 5s. For intimacy it would be in the single digits.

I don’t count anymore. I count the ones who have been kind instead. I know people who are ready to start a fight the whole day. A little bit of thought made me realise I didn’t tell anyone to die but I have been told to die by many. The people I met in college were so jealous of my success that they tried everything to make me leave college but I got my degree. I no longer want to sit with people who would make me the topic of discussion once I get up.

I was bullied in school like crazy. I would count nearly all my peers to be assholes. After I got into adulthood, I've been around a lot people who have been rude to me, and took advantage of me at work. So I guess I would count them to be this too. Then I've ran into some mean people on the internet. I can count them as well. So actually I quit counting.

Thank goodness never face to ass. Long time ago I realized I wrote that there are many unhappy people in this world and they will do anything in their power to make you feel the same things they feel.
So knowing this I just gotta take everything. Like a green assault and I understand what they're trying to do. Why they're doing it and I shake my head and thing so sad

It would have taken less energy to just be nice.
But they choose to do things the hard way I guess to prove who they truly are

I've lost count, but I realized that I had extremely poor discernment and low/minimally enforced boundaries with people. I was living my life in a way that attracted abusive people and repelled respectful people.

Once I cracked down on the lack of respect, things got a lot better.

@ProbablyClueless Now that is one of the best things I've heard someone say in a long time. People can't generally take what you don't give the opportunity to. Good boundaries are key. So is an ability to give a good belly laugh as you walk away!

I've worked a couple retail jobs, at a couple restaurants, at a gas station, and was a door man and bouncer at 3 different bars on and off for the past 18 years. I've probably met 5 times as many assholes than most people ever will in their whole life. I'm sure there are jobs where you can meet even more assholes like customer service representatives or cops, but those are definitely not the jobs for me.
