Setting goals is part of expectations or vice versa. The one is closely linked to the other one.

You need expectations when setting a goal otherwise there is no need to set such a goal. The same applies to goals you set in life. You do set them because you expect something positive from achieving them.

The size of the goals is not really important. You set them according to your capabilities. Undershooting the goals is not desirable because that means that you set the goals too high.

So yes, the size of your goal does actually matter if you want to achieve it.
