The rap I listen to is so damn hard, like even other people who like rap are like “damn, bro…” But then the (broadly speaking) rock music I like, so much of it is absolutely pudding soft, lmfao. It’s like coke rap vs emo pop punk, those are my two extremes. I have no idea why both those genres speak to me, but there’s an ocean’s worth of distance between them. But I like what I like, haha.

I guess I’d call it an evolution of gangsta rap. It pretty much IS gangsta rap, but I kind of reserve that term for the pioneers.

I’m from when rappers SOLD the drugs, not used them😂 I actually read a great comment, albeit from almost a decade ago, on a YouTube video of an old gangsta rap anthem from the early 00s. “Back when rappers were hustlers. Now it’s 2016 and we’re getting the fiends’ side of the story.”🤣🤣🤣

I did that once too, haha. I was hanging out in a park while my car was being worked on, and this dude was nearby. We didn’t speak, but I was walking around a little later and passed him on the sidewalk, and he asked me if I was some cop he had interacted with before. I said no, and we got to talking. He was having a tough day, trying to find work, girlfriend problems, kid was just struggling. I just said “bro, no funny shit, but…you need a hug, dog.” And his eyes welled up with tears, and we hugged. He didn’t go full-cry, thankfully. I didn’t sign up for all that, lmfao. But he was talking more positively and hopefully afterwards, so I think it was good for him.
