On more than one occasion, someone has said to me, 'There's no way you could have written that...', etc, the implication apparently having been that such, according to them, literary prowess could only have been produced by an electronic entity.

Although I've long been comfortable taking pen to paper, and have written for several publications, I doubt whether I represent that small a percentage of the population at large. But two or three people felt otherwise, and said, 'You're a bot, Scott!' I told them that their suspicions were unfounded, but that they were close, because based on what I've seen, many of the AI devices are, in some cases of less accurate than myself.

I'd love to tell you that I'm this insanely talented writer, but I fear that their assessments were more an indictment of our literacy than a reflection of my own skills.

I haven't been accused, per se, but I have had people question whether I'm using an AI, such as ChatGPT, to formulate my responses. I have never done so, for the record.

I think the problem is that some of us grew up in an era where we actually had to learned to write, because technological crutches weren't available. Unfortunately, that just isn't the case, anymore.

That's not to say that younger generations can't elucidate via written word; in fact many of them can. It's just that it's no longer as necessary to be able to do so as it once was, and many people opt to take the easier way out.

So, when confronted with someone who actually can express themselves, solely through their own writing, it is pervasive to question whether their thoughts are genuinely their own words, or if they've used some form of technological enhancement to formulate their response.

Unfortunately, this issue will probably only become more common in the future, as AI becomes more prevelant in our every day lives.

Now, see, that's something I could never, ever, ever do. Heck, I'm essentially incapable of logging onto many sites, because their firewalls and labyrinthine verification fortifications are all but impenetrable for someone like me, who came up in the pre internet era. 'MFA' or Multi Factor Authentication has more or less been the death knell of my cyberspace exploits, at least until the next wave of innovation relgates them to obsolescence. With MFA, they tell you to go your mailbox, get the login code and then type it in the space provided, after which I'm invariably told that the login is unauthorized, despite my having followed their instructions to the letter. Hopefully, facial recognition and/or fingerprint technology will mercifully chase this abomination from the web.
