For those that work retail checkout, on average, what percentage of people pay with a card vs cash?

I've been asking gas stations out of curiosity and I was shocked that some say it's as high as 50-50. They say one of the main reasons is a lot of people get cash jobs. I asked at my grocery store and they said it's around 75% that pay with a card. I'm sure location can make a difference also.

It's much higher than that. I worked for the firm of a major convenience store for many years and around the turn of the millenium it was largely cash. When i stopped working for that firm a few years back it was about 90% cashless (not an exaggeration). Checks were also frequently used over a quarter century ago. Now they're almost non existent.

i pay cash for most things. i cannot see putting a ten dollar purchase on a credit card.

That is what I thought it would be around. What type of retail do you work in and is it in the city or more in the country? If you don't mind me asking.
