Do you have or want a robot vacuum?

I got a Roomba 104 a week ago and I am surprised by how great it is - it vacuums my carpeting upstairs perfectly, quietly, and without stalling or requiring attention. The only downside is that the app that is supposed to operate it basically sucks, but you really do not need it. Please keep it clean, and it works a charm.

I just ordered a second one for my much larger living space downstairs. I hate carpeting and will eventually replace it, but for now, clean carpeting without manual labor is ideal.

My robo vac sucks so bad that I rarely ever use it. My house is just to messy for it to keep up.

I was looking at buying one of these ride on vacuums for my kids for Christmas tho. Kind of like a robo vac lol

Sounds like my robot vacuum. We run it in the bathroom only, because in literally every other room it will eventually get stuck on a power cord somewhere.

We have one. It rarely gets used, mainly just in the bathroom to pick up hair that either we or our cats have shed. It doesn't work on carpet despite the marketing claiming its great at carpet, and if it encounters a power cord for a lamp or a cell phone charger it will get caught on it and give up, leaving 90% of the room not even touched. To be fair, our robot vac is not an expensive or high end one, so maybe those are better.

Yep, I'm aware of that. However, some material looks nicer than others and even it's nicer to walk on. Those are the variables and those are the things I can change.

I’m eyeing the dyson robot vacuum. they’ve launched one and it’s had bad reviews. I’m waiting for the second version to come out

dyson typically love R&D phase and spend so much time on development and iterations of their products. i like their handheld so I’m hopeful for their robot hashtag brand loyalty

i don’t know if you know this but the privacy policy on a roomba sucks. they are allowed to report what you watch on cable and how you use your phone and be connected to your smart home stuff. it’s a shitty business model in my opinion

meanwhile i have a wonderful robot mop. my floors are are hard and for the time being i vacuum. but i run a robot mop that i like because it isn’t from irobot and doesn’t require an app or bluetooth or mapping of my house to run. like let a mop be a mop I’m not needing the extra tech stuff

@DreamCrescent What kind of robot mop do you have? I need one! I like my Roomba robot vacuums, but the app for them does indeed suck, but not for the reasons you mentioned. It just freezes.

it’s called everybot and you’ll notice the reviews aren’t exactly raving. it’s exactly what i wanted: no app; no mapping of my floors; it doesn’t need maintenance of a dirty water tank etc. and the clean floors are a wonderful bonus
i guess people don’t like how simple it is.. nowadays people like higher tech i suppose

My son got us one for Christmas a few years ago. We use it upstairs. It does a good job but once in a while it needs to be done with a real vacuum cleaner.

What kind is it and what model? Mine was inexpensive, as these things go, but it does a terrific job of cleaning - much better than any vacuum cleaner I've ever had.
