I was an Advanced EMT working with a county EMS service and responded on a call as one of the highest-trained persons on the ambulance. We were a BLS unit that day.
Anyways, it was an elderly, frail female that fell at a mountain resort. You know with geriatrics, their skin can thin and tear very easily. Well, she tore her skin when she fell (an avulsion) and her ulna bone was exposed. I was curious and poked it lightly with my gloved finger to confirm.
I have also borrowed into people's bones to establish intraosseous infusions (an EZ IO), with one patient being conscious.

Welcome to the medical world man. Well, it is former for me. I am disabled now and a software developer that takes short project gigs here and there. Damn though, do I sometimes miss working EMS. It is a love/hate relationship with that line of work.
