It's shorter than I am, but I wouldn't say they are small even for a guy. Id say anything less than 5'5 would be small.

5'8" is short to me, but that's because I'm 6'9", and most of my friends are at least 6'2"

I'd say 5'10" is average height for a guy, and anything above 6' is tall.

5'8 is slightly below average height for an adult male in the USA. I am 6'2. I probably get rejected for being too tall almost as much I get chosen just for that.
