Ah Yes..
Did you Know most of the Pirates were Actually Deserted Navy troops.. They were Already Trained to Live at Sea.. and That what made them so Deadly.
Navy sailors, when knew they could die at sea, Would take a Small amount Loans from Many People Showing their Credibility as Navy Troops and High Salary, They would Take Debt for an Year etc
If their Vessel was in war, They would Fight till "Abandon Ship" or Captain dies.. or they Surrender, then they would Just , drop their Boats and Jump into them with Supplies and Join Pirates..
This way Their 😝 Families would get Compensation, and People who Gave them loan would Suffer minimal Loss, once they were Claimed Missing at sea..
Apart from that, They already told their families, in situation like this, When and Where Outside the Nation's Border can they meet if they needed to Talk.. and Still stay Dead on paper..
They would usually send from an Old Pirates Jewelry Shop a "String of +30 Pearls and +12 Sea Shells and 3-5 Conch" - That would mean that they are ALIVE.. but it was Claimed as "Jewelry Designing Pack!" As a Promotional package for that family..
If Family couldn't manage and they needed to Talk to him or needed him to Return, for certain Reasons, which did not Have alternative solution.. The Family will Alter that String.. To decide the Date For when one or Few of them will Come to Meet him..
Conch would Denote the Year From the Date they Left the Home, Then Sea Shell Denoted the Month , Pearls Decided the Day Of that month, sometime they would add Cloth to Decide time of meeting.. All tied in a String.. or a Bag, would be Shipped to Small Jewelry Shop of the Old Pirate.
That Pirate would Either translate the Message and Keep it with the Sender's Details.. Or Keep the Entire Package, and Get Paid for it!.
Once the Date was Decided, they would reach 1-2 days before that Date to that Specific Place which was Already Decided, a Second Default place was "Old Jewelry Shop" and Pirate was Told often Who will show up on which date.. and he Kept Logs , and Ensure People met, or Dropped messages for each other's.. Jewelry shops used to be cloaked and Secure & usually had an upper Room to meet and discuss and Back doors too!.
World was a lot different 🙂👈 My great Grandfather were Bandits & They Used to Trade with Pirates 🤣 and operated using Such so many Small Shops, sending and Receiving Parcels under emperor's protected services, Yet with Hidden messages in it!.
Old Times Were Fun, we really don't need most Technological Advancements except Medical Advancements
When a ship left harbor as a Privateer, they would many times return as Pirates because while they were out, a treaty would be signed with another country. That is why there were so many Governor's pardons.
@AMS700CX4u2 True, and Privateer were Told Survive whatever it Takes, do it..
That's where they Take Origin of Jack Sparrow In Pirates of Carribbean, he was Working for East India Company earlier and Transporting Human Slaves as cargo, on Black Pearl, until he turned!.
Damn turn coat! 😅

No, but I know this tidbit of information by heart:
There once was a fellow from Kent
whose dick was so long that it bent
To save her some trouble
he folded it double
And instead of coming, he went
That's an old one.
I'm going to tell this... to my next date...
I know the ship detail.
But I never was intereted in the ass of a feĺlow sailor.
Yes I remember reading about that somewhere years ago, funny how they came up with the name “brass monkey” as a way to store the balls
Thanks for the info !!
