Yes but you'll be surprised how many in the UK don't. In practice this is how it works. A man from Scotland does something good we say it's a great British achievement. The same guy does something bad then he's Scottish.
Also if you go on holiday and say your British the hotel staff will piss in your drinks. But if you say your welsh or Scottish they won't.
English never accept scottish money they say its not legal tender.
Go to London and hand a taxi driver a scottish fiver and god almighty the world ends.. 'We can't accept that don't kno if its real, yap yap'
Central Scotland where I'm from is divided, catholics never call themselves British, they either refer to themselves as Irish or Scottish and protestants call themselves British, very rarely Scottish. So be aware if your foreign, you come to eastend of Glasgow and refer to someone as brit, be wary what you're saying it could result in you losing teeth.

Sure.
England was a separate kingdom united to the Principality of Wales in the late 1400s. Scotland remained separate from England and Wales until 1707. Ireland being added in 1801.
At this point, it became the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
Then in 1924, Ireland took on Dominion status as the Irish Free State. This being the case until 1947 at which point Ireland was divided. The south (Eire) becoming the Republic of Ireland, while the north (Ulster) remained linked to the United Kingdom.
At that point becoming the current United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
That's general knowledge taught in my original country's schools.
I won't need an Indian to explain that to me.
I had no idea, now I know
