It can be respected if done properly I'll say. It's doubled edged and usually helps you more than the people around you if you want your integrity straight and set, it's a tougher road because your not denying the people and yourself around you but it will give you a peace of mind once you let it become who you are. There are different ways of being honest like being literally honest which can go badly with a lot of people and then being honest with who you are and your actions.
