Is There Anyone Else Who Has Absolutely No Desire To Travel To Other Countries Or Am I The Only One?

A friend from high school who just got married at age 72, went to the Polynesian Islands for their honeymoon.
While I am happy for her, I just don't share her love for traveling to other countries.

I have always been more of a homebody and prefer to stay at home or close to home 🏠.

I guess I like the safety of being where I live or at least in the United States.

I have seen too many bad things happen to tourists that go to other countries and just disappear.🫥 Or they get robbed and stuck in another country - lots of bad things can happen.


And the language barrier alone is something that I couldn't deal with. I have enough trouble with the Mexican people who live in my State with more than 42% of them here.

Same here I am not keen on travelling to other countries but If I had the chance I would travel to japan I wonder their culture and I also like japanese girls they look cute and beautiful and seem as if they didn't age

I did my share of traveling when I grew up but now, I am no longer interested that much into traveling, mainly in view of the hassle and stress to go through airport security. Being a non US citizen and not living in the US, that security hassle is not quite as bad as in the US.

I come from a family of travelers, or at least of people working in the airline and travel industry. We used to travel extensively on those free airline passes that we got but after having seen my share of the world, I have become more sedentary. Also, there is always an increased danger for a woman traveling alone.

I have all I need to relax right at the foot of my place. A lake, a forest, a mountain with multiple hiking paths. What do I need more?

I enjoyed a month traveling through Germany, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, England, Wales and the Irish Republic.

Years later, I went back and spent two weeks in Ireland with my wife.

I have been to Mexico several times - to Tijuana, Rosarita and Encinitas in my teens and twenties. My wife and I spent a week in the Maya Riviera - Cancun, the Xcaret resort and Tulum. It was wonderful. And we spent two fantastic weeks in San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato.

Mark Twain had something to say about travel.
"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.”

I have not been on a plane since before 9/11 happened. It just seems like too much of a hassle with the long lines and cavity searches. If I can't drive there I am really not in a big hurry to go.

After she told me that they took 5 cruises to 5 different islands - plus the plane rides from California and back to California again, the whole thing just sounded SO exhausting to me! 🫤

I have no desire to travel, if I were to ever travel it wouldn't be for the place but cultural difference, mostly speaking for finding a partner, it seems easier and more simple in other cultures than it would in my own but it depends on many things

I travelled a lot in my younger years and there are only a couple of places left I would like to see, but otherwise I am not too interested in leaving the country.
