How tall are you, really, and does height even matter?

I'm 6'2". I actually wouldn't mind being 6'0". Stuff would fit better I think.

And here's an odd thing other people seemed shocked by. I think I'm average height. I perceive no real difference if I'm talking to a guy 5'9" or a woman 5'4. If someone asks me about my height, my first instinct is the say "average". In fact, I perceive women as taller than they actually are. No, it's not just heels. I think it's a subconscious gender power dynamic at play.

I actually had one woman chatting me up recently who said "you're really tall". I replied, "I think I'm average height". She had a look of disbelief on her face. She made me stop and look at my buddy standing there with us. He's maybe 5'7". The she asked me to look around the room at all the other guys. Then at her. She's about 5'3", petite. OK, I had to admit I was one of the tallest people in the room. But unless I stop and focus on it, my mind unconsciously puts everyone at "average".

I'm 6'4", and I think it matters to some people more than others.

I've gotten numerous compliments on my height, and have been told it's an attractive quality, but I doubt it's the single most important attribute for most people.

Personally, as much as I enjoy being tall, it's also a PITA to find clothes that fit properly, and sitting in confined spaces is pretty uncomfortable. My single biggest consideration with purchasing a vehicle is whether or not I have enough headroom, which the majority of cars do not provide.

I am 5'10 and no it doesn't matter to me for others, for myself it does though. I feel awkward being this tall. If I lost about 5 to 6 inches of height then I wouldn't feel so weird about it, especially when standing next to my wife who is only 4'11.

I can date someone taller or shorter than me and as far as being friends, I still never consider it an issue.

Five feet two. Height can create attraction, but it doesn't matter lying down. For a lot of us girls, we learn that length and girth matter more. Obviously there is a little bit of relationship between height and those other two things, but there are better ways to predict that than height, and one of them is race. Even that is not always accurate.
