Four at home. Two at school. I have a queen bed at home and full at school. I just like the extra support of having an extra one behind my head because I mostly sleep on my back.
I also have a body pillow at home because occasionally sleep on my side. Can't have one at school really.

I only use one.
My wife likes to prop her back on a foam wedge with another contoured pillow on top of that for her head. She also has a pillow for between her knees when she is sleeping on her side. And she has a big, plush Teddy bear.
