what are some lowkey signs that someone is actually super smart?

like not the obvious stuff like flexing good grades or talking in big words, but the subtle things you only notice after hanging out with them for a while

im writing something about this and would love to hear your experiences, what made you realize someone was secretly a genius?

Technically speaking we define genius by IQ and that by processing.

So subtle signs of intelligence will include simple things like seeing both sides of an argument at the start of it.

Most typically competence makes people more humble rather than prone to bragging alrhough that is not a rule. People also tend to like to do what they do well, which means most geniuses end up thinkers. A little more quiet, selective with words. So on.

With very high intelligence being a form of neurodivergence they will often have traits that come from that too. Hence the socially awkward srereotype. Which, technically, is usually wrong. The world is unfair and genius in one area often leads to genius in another. Just like highly intelligent people tend to also be fit and healthy.

They'd typically be able to manage well within at least their own comfort areas regardless. See fictional characters like Sherlock. Clearly ADHD, probably autism, likely a degree of psychopathy - which I'll concede is an odd mix. Not because those make a genius but because one anomaly often creates a few more.

But from a writing perspective a genius is able to do much with little and handle a lot of information quickly. It is not being superhuman. While considering ten things instead of two increases the odds it does not guarantee they will be right. I'll also point out that genius traits that are strictly speaking not genius but equally impressive like an eidetic memory is far easier to write.
