Do you ever drive barefoot?

Question

I never do, but a friend I knew removed her high heels and drove and when she got a warning for speeding the cop told her not to drive barefoot. I told him that it was probably safer than driving with high heels. Some things just don't make sense.

I hate being barefoot in general, so no I have never driven barefoot. I did drive for a few minutes in socks though, to make a quick getaway from someone. I heard though (and I imagine this to be true) that driving barefoot can injure your feet (i.e. if you smack your foot against the pedal while trying to make a quick stop or something).

Plus I drive a standard, and I don't really want to also operate the clutch while barefoot. I don't even drive in flip flops because they have slipped or gotten caught under the pedals (they're bad for your feet anyways).

Depending on the shoes, it can be hard to gauge how much you're pressing the pedal. There are three pairs of heels that I can drive in no problem because I'm so used to them, but I won't try it with any others. I'm not a fan of driving barefoot, though. I bend my toes too much when I'm driving, and without a shoe to provide extra stability, my foot is just too "mushy" to easily work the pedals.

I've driven barefoot before but it feels weird to me. So does driving in flip-flops. When I had a car I would always keep a pair of flats in it for driving in case the shoes I was wearing weren't suitable.

Had to once when running late for work.  When stopped at a red light, I slipped my right shoe on real quick.  Got me all the way to work, where I put the other shoe on and headed in.

i drive barefoot quite often i hate dress shoes so the moment I get next ot my car I just toss em in and drive. really didn't know it was illegal though

I did once when my ankle or foot was hurting me so I couldn't wear a shoe but I would never do it again. I actually found it to be harder because your foot is softer than a shoe so it took more energy to push the pedal down.

Never, I can drive in heels no problem. Plus if you drive barefoot or in flipflops and you have an accident you're not covered by insurance due to "inappropriate footwear"

Sometimes. I usually wear tennis shoes when I drive or driving mocs. Never heels, it ruins them. There is an old wives tale that it's illegal to drive barefoot, but it isn't.

Yes. I drive barefoot all the time. Many times I don't even have shoes with me. FYI, driving barefoot is 100% legal in all 50 US states.

I hate driving barefoot. It's uncomfortable and just feels weird. If I am going somewhere in heels, I always bring extra shoes to drive in.

Yeah but it feels like I have less control over the pedals plus it hurts my foot. I try to avoid driving shoeless but sometimes it happens.

I do in the summer time. I hate wearing sandles when I drive so I just take them off. It feels a bit strange though.

Most of the time actually; I hate shoes! But that's kind of dumb of your friend, if I got pulled over I would put my shoes back on really quickly

I like driving barefoot better.  It just feels good when there's nothing between your feet and the pedals sometimes.  "Sometimes" usually = sunny days with the windows down.
