If a girl says she has a wife or wifey does that mean?

My friend at work and I are fighting.. apparently he says his little sister in high school tells him all the time she's talking to her "Wifey" He wanted to know if that means she is gay/bi or whatever.

Not neccesarily...I think if she's dropping that kind of hints, there would be more to indicate she was gay/bi.

I'd imagine it's more common for a high school girl to joke around about her platonic best friends by calling them "their girlfriend" or "wifey" or changing their Facebook status to "in a relationship" with them just to joke around about how close they are. It's a silly, nonsexual way of showing affection.

If she is coming right out and referring to a girl she's in a relationship with as "wifey" ... she has to be comfortable enough that she wouldn't hide her sexuality from her brother, so I think there wouldn't be much confusion.

it does not necessarily mean that she is gay/bi. "wifey" is considered as like close friends, best friends.. the one friend who you tell all your secrets to etc ...

That alone doesn't mean that she's gay, because I have someone I call wifey too; but we both have bfs 😂. She even got us matching wifey shirts. It just means that she's my number one, over everyone. She's always going to be there for me. When I go to meet a guy, I take her with me. (She's 6'4 so she'd be able to get someone for me 😂.)
