Obviousoly not lol. This is going to be hard to explain. I think some people overrate them with shallow fans who know nothing about their music or how talented they really are.

#1 Anthony Kiedis (singer) Such a good example to teenagers. He isn't ashamed of his past, he tries to help people by telling them what he went through. His lyrics are some of the best I've ever heard. They come from his heart and tell stories unlike other singers now days.

#2 John Frusciante (guitarist, vocalist) Joined the band at 17, to be so talented at that age is amazing. Now that he's 39, I'd say he is in the top 25 best guitarists alive. And had some amazing albums out of his own.

#3 Flea (bass guitar) Said to be the best bass player alive. All I have to say.

#4 Chad Smith (drums) don't know much about him, but that he is a fantastic drummer and can make an awesome beat to about anything with anything.

No, not overated. Awesome band? YES!

yeah. they are alright but there are other great bands too who don't get enough attention ie. all the other alternative rock bands.

Yes they do have a few good songs but I think they are indeed overrated. I'm pretty sure most people will say otherwise.

I enjoy the red hot chili peppers, because, I mean, if your gonna eat a chili pepper, it outta have a little kick to it, right? Otherwise, why not just eat a regular old bell pepper outta the garden? And what's this thing I keep hearin about asterisk tattoos 'n such. What in the name of Adams housecat does an asterisk got to do with a chili pepper? You kids got too much time on ya hands. When I was your age, I had to work 25 hours a day in a dung factory, and sleep in an old refrigerator! And, I had to like it too! You don't know how good ya got it, cause ya never had to work for nothin. Just sit around thinkin about what kinda chili pepper you like best! Get to work!

Overrated...maybe not. Overproduced...definitely. They should be given all due credit for their past work. That stuff was amazing. Their new stuff, not so amazing.

I like RHCP there one of my faviorate bands around. Now I will admit Stadium Arcadium wasn't there best album but come on listen to what else gets played on the radio and try to tell there any better.

As for myself I have always liked RHCP but I suggest you listen to older RHCP music before they got famous. Like the Song Fight Like a Brave that was an awesome song and in my opinion there original guitarist then was much better than John Frusciante who they got to take his place.

Stadium Arcadium was overhyped and quite a dissapointment, but I can't say they're overrated because their older stuff like BSSM and One Hot Minute was really good.

They were popular and pretty good when I was in high school, but I haven't heard a thing about them since then except when they did that reality TV thing. They must me trying a come back.
