Is '90's R&B overrated?

I have to start off by saying I love '90's R&B! It's my favorite era of R&B and the very best era of R&B in my opinion. But some people think it's overrated and they do make valid points. They say the lack of instruments playing in '90's R&B compared to prior eras, the hip-hop infusion of R&B in the '90's, the lack of music legends coming out the '90's and the sampling of music especially from the '70's and the '90's make '90's R&B overrated. So do you agree or no? Why or why not? What you think is the best era of R&B?

I think that depends on how you define overrated. Is its quality inflated given the current state of music? Yes, most definitely. Most music today seems uninspired, repetitive, or just forgettable. Breaking from the status quo enables listeners to experience a different sound that's appealing because it's different. In short, it's good, but it's only so well liked because the current state of music has set the bar pretty low.

Straight up those slow jams from the 90s are EVERYTHING. Nothing gets me in the mood like some R Kelly on a romantic night, you know?

Just put on some "Bump N Grind" and magic happens, I'm tellin ya. Or if I'm tryna set the vibe right, "Slow Wind" by Ralph Tresvant is guaranteed to lead to a good time.

Even just thinking about some of those classics gives me chills, no lie. Like that "On Bended Knee" Boyz II Men joint? Forget about it, you KNOW what's about to go down after that joints playin.

Anytime a chick wants me to serenade her, my go-to is always "Let's Ride" by Montell Jordan. Works like a charm every time, they can't resist the silky vibes.

I swear nothing gets me and my lady in the mood faster than some 90s slow jams on the speakers.

You got legends in the 90s.. Whitney Houston, Boyz II Men, Usher, Mary J Blige, Maxwell, Ginuwine, etc.. I think that the 90s tried something a bit new and it worked.. R&B is not my favorite genre so, I don't really have a favorite or best era..
