Okay so I have medium/long(just below shoulder blade length hair, super thick and silky(as everyone tells me) now today I wanted it in a single braid and I got it up in one no problem but after sitting then getting up to go finish getting ready a lot of little strands fell out and they don't stay with hair spray or bobby pins. Now I always complain about how I can't do any of those nice little hair dos' I see the girls in my school wear because it won't stay! And everyone solution is attack my hair with hair spray but when I do that my hair looks greasy and I don't like that so what do you guys do, or any suggestions?
it's too clean and silky...like Lommelun said don't use conditioner when you wash it or shower the night before you style it... the hairspray thing maybe would work better if it was a light hold just to get the hair less silky...that's what they have to do in salons with extensions before you use them.

put some styling wax in your hair before you style it and comb your hair then style it. but don't use too much wax.
stop using conditioner. Wash your hair with water only, no shampoo.
that ought to help.
