In some cultures, you start most sentences with a person's name. I and Japan, for example.
I think people who do this are unconsciously being influenced by their ancestors' culture and langauge patterns, in ths way.
They may not be at all aware they using people's name to address them, in many cases.
They may no longer speak any foreign langauge, but they still show the influence of their 'mother' tongue.

For a while, I was using her name in texts (texting and calling is the only way we communicate right now as we are 3000 miles from each other) however, I've stopped doing it simply because it got boring and annoying. I wonder if she misses it?
I think I was doing it because I liked the idea of who it was, now it's come and gone and I've gotten over it. She's just a regular person to me now (you'd have to understand my situation to really get what I'm saying)It seems that your name is special to him.
