How to open the pumps starbucks gives you when you buy a bottle of syrup?

So I got the verisimo machine for Christmas, and afterward read taht you can make your own lattes and macchiatos from the comfort of your home with a purhcase of some syrup. when I bought it today, the barista gave me a complementary white pump for it. however, it's still beyond me how to open it or make it pop up so that I can pump it.

All it says is 'twist, with an arrow pointing in one direction, but after twisting for more than a minute I think there's more to it than that.

Anyone know the trick?

It sounds like it works like a soap dispenser. You should twist the top part that you push down on (not the part that screws onto the bottle), and it should pop up.

I bought one of those pumps years ago. I just twist the top and it opens up. Never did quite make my coffee taste like starbucks lol

You must hold on to the inner 'cap' and twist, otherwise it will not open.

no trick once you screwed to pump on to bottle then twist the top and should pop up
