What causes 'big' quads on women?

Mainly a big part of it is genetics. Also though a big part of it is perspective. Muscles that are used regularly and not atrophied DO have a natural shape to them, that, in the case of women, is misinterpreted as "big" because the social standard for beauty is set by naturally thin women who are mainly sedentary and maintain their thin figure exclusively by managing diet.

In any case, once you start doing any exercise of any kind that involves generating force or power with the lower body muscles, the muscles in the glutes, hamstrings, and quads will grow somewhat, and how much and in what shape they'll grow is determined almost 100% by genetics. It usually isn't enough to lead to bodybuilder-ish size though and will stop way short of that (unless the woman has a hormone imbalance that leads to a higher natural ratio of testosterone to estrogen production AND is eating at a calorie surplus).

Here is the best way to look at it: Your body has a natural shape to it that is determined by the length of your bones, the width of your hips and rib cage, the shapes of your muscle bellies, and where the tendons/ligaments that connect them to the bones sit exactly. As long as you are eating at or below maintenance calories, the ONLY visual effect you will see from any rigorous exercise at all is bringing out your body's natural shape which is determined by these factors.

With all due respect, I've seen you ask these types of questions before and you tend to ignore the people who respond by saying genetics are a significant factor when they clearly know what they're talking about. Why is this?

But if I ask a question about slimming down muscular thighs and I get actual answers and then I have that one dumbass who says 'you can't, it's genetic' of course ill ignore them

It has a lot to do with genetics. Some people pack on muscle much easily with minimum effort. It also has a lot do with how much you do quad heavy exercises and how tall you are. If you are shorter, your muscles are spread in a smaller area than than taller people.

Cause would be genetics or body adaptation to an exercise or sport. The women you have outlined either genetically have large quads OR do a sport in which it is highly used. For example: second picture crossfit girl. They do a ton of squats, box jumps, and sprints. The first picture looks like a sprinter. While running the quadriceps are taxed.

Here is my theory on the genetics. Women have larger hips in order to give birth. Women have larger legs in order to carry the weight of pregnancy. It is natural adaptation in our species.

Are you kidding me?! Those legs are sexy as hell in my opinion. Particularly the first and third links. If you have legs like that then you should be damn happy.

As for what causes your quads to grow. Heavy leg workouts. Have you ever done heavy weighted squats, lunges, deadlifts? The squats, especially, will grow your legs.

If you're not doing any of that or exercising at all then you have great quad genetics. I personally like a bit of muscle on girls lol.

I knew a girl that is on the dance team at the college I go to, and she has the same quads like the second link.

I think it is from working out a lot, because I saw pictures of her with her dance team, and the upper part of their legs are so disportionatly larger than other parts of their body.

To me, I find it attractive because it makes them appear athletic, which a strong girl in the bedroom, can lead to a wrestling foreplay challenge that can be hard to win lol.

Doing a lot of weightlifting or cycling...although the ratio of your body's growth is highly genetic.

I have the same Problem with my calves and quads but mostly calves. Im quiet small but my calves are about 16 inch :/
