+1 yThat's my outfit of choice when I'm sick or just in a lazy mood. It's not "unacceptable." People have the right to wear what they want and what is most comfortable to them. When I have an 8am class at my university, I value the extra hour of sleep rather than waking up early to put effort into my appearance. I don't have anyone to impress anyway, my boyfriend doesn't care, he says I look beautiful in a messy bun and hoodie. And I don't care what anyone else thinks. Of course I obviously don't dress like that ALL the time, sometimes it's just easier like I already mentioned.

ehh, it depends. I don't wear flip flops, but I do wear flats and sweat pants sometimes in public. That's only to school, going to a place where there is like a hand full of people or when I have to run an errand. I wouldn't wear them if I know there is going to be A LOT of people (like the mall) or when I know I'm going to be out for a long period of time.

This IS actually a great and very valid question. I for one, have MAJOR thing for flipflop and bare feet on the female gender. I do not have those crazy type of fetishes but I do hold nice, well shaped and cared feet a big factor in a girl's acceptability. Despite that, if there is one part of attire that flip-flops would look odd is a sweatpants. They just don't go together. On top of it, often they wear sweatpants, flip-flops and white gym socks. They just show how lazy the girl is.
As for guys, it looks unsmart and unhygienic unless they are on a board-walk.00 Reply
Well for me it all depends on where I am.
For example if during the summer I'm at the coast camping in a camp then I ware flip flops and shorts almost all day long most of the time because I'm waling around on the beach or something even without a tshirt. So even when I go to the store I have the same outfit. But this is when I'm at the camp in the evening when we go out... no way or at home going down town or something. Flip flops are for the beach and that's where I ware them or maybe at home around the house during the summer.00 Reply

I guess it depends on where you're going, or if you want to avoid attention.
If you're running to the corner store, or taking the dog for a walk then that's fine. But if you're going to spend the day out in public then I would put a little bit more effort into how you look.
Most of the time, the point of being in public is to interact with other people, and I assure you, even the most fashion-apathetic person will notice what you're wearing and use it to make a judgement about you. That's doesn't mean it's a bad judgement, but it will usually improve the more effort you put into your looks.
Personally I notice a huge difference in the way people look at me when I dress well. If I'm in sweatpants and a t-shirt, most people don't give me a second glance. When I throw on a nice pair of jeans and a sport jacket, people are friendly, make eye-contact with me, and go out of their way to make sure I'm taken care of.10 Reply
+1 yIt is my outfit choice when I am at home in a lazy mood. It is not unacceptable in public too - if it is not uncomfortable to you and not exposing you as ugly. We have right to wear what we want and what is most comfortable to us. Ultimately you dress code express your personality and nature - in that particular situation. them. MY friends does comment or not care what I have put on if they see mi in this dress - at home. I have not tried it in large crowd public - and definitely somebody will comment for your any type of cloths there. If a guy is wearing sweatpants without undergarments and shape and size of his P* is making show or if a girl is wearing it and her camel toe is attracting me - I will comment them to take some care for wearing it in public (but it will attract my attention) Obviously it is not for wearing all the time.

Not flipflops though, I can't walk long distances in those. I rather wear a pair of pants/jeans and a simple t-shirt. Slip on a shirt, cardigan or a hoodie if its a bit chilly. It's the most versatile look!
Funny enough, my city was ranked top 3 for being worst dressed in Canada because most girls wear yoga pants everywhere since Lululemon is from Vancouver. And most men have no fashion sense and dress like slobs/hobos or in 'douchewear' like ed hardy and affliction with trackpants and those puffy northface jackets in the winter.10 Reply- 9.1K opinions shared on Other topic.
+1 yyes I leave the house like that when it's appropriate. if I'm running out to the store, running an errand or maybe just chillin with some friends then absolutely I'll rock sweats and flops. why not be comfortable when you're not dressing for any particular occassion
10 Reply I wouldn't say it's unacceptable (I'm sure there are others that wouldn't mind it and others that think it's a complete turn-off), but for sure it doesn't look good. Even if you want to just go out in public dressed casually, you should still look decent. Flip flops and sweatpants looks horrible imo.

+1 ySweats I have no problem with, especially when it is colder.
Flip Flops should be banned. Not real footwear. And people wear those things everyplace including work and church.
Flops should only be worn at the gym/shower, near the pool, and the beach. That is it.
I cannot stand them and even the flipping sound when people walk infuriates me.11 Reply- +1 y
Really, anything you can't stand should be banned?
Girls in flip flops are hot no matter if they're wearing sweatpants, jeans, shorts, sundress, or whatever. I just love to see sexy girls' feet and toes on display. Especially if she has her toenails painted and she's wearing a toe ring or two. Now that's hot. I can't help but wonder how sexy her feet and toes and flip flops smell, too.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yNot cool but not unacceptable. I wear sweat pants and flip flops in public (not both together). When you dress like that in public you can't possibly care about what others think of you, and that is why I wear them because I really don't care about fashion faux pas and what people think of me.
20 Reply663 opinions shared on Other topic. I mean, I don't really think anyone has the right to say flip flops and sweatpants are "unacceptable" to wear. I mean, they're just clothes. Honestly, I don't care. I rather dress for comfort than the approval of others.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yFlip flops I don't wear in public, but since I don't sweat much at home, sometimes I do wear sweatpants in public... =P
I think those are OK for a quick supermarket run when you're already at home and forgot something and have to leave the house again... I can see people who would wear nothing but those though (like shorts and those ortho sandals combo or how they're called).
Celebrities apparently do it too, iPhone in one hand, Starbucks drink in the other...00 Reply
Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yARE YOU CRAZY? Asking a question like that.
I mean,
Haven't you gone shopping at Wal-Mart ever?
If you did and you looked around you would be surprised at what some people leave the house in...
Here even better, I will show you what I mean.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yNo, but I think it's kinda hot if I see some girl at the local market or something wearing it. It shows she doesn't spend an hour prepping up just to do a quick errand or two. If she went to some French restaurant (or tried to get in, lol) then it'd be weird

+1 yNot hot. I would never look like that in public... ever. Unless I'm on my way to the hospital or about to give birth. That's the only acceptable excuses I can think of.

i really don't care about what I'm wearing or how people look at me in those moments, I just go with what's comfortable10 Reply6.7K opinions shared on Other topic. I don't wear sweatpants nor flipflops but I do go outside super casually. I own very nice clothes but they usually sit in my closet. I prefer to wear something comfortable outside like an old random t-shirt and a pair of cheap basketball shorts haha
00 ReplyCool. It's mostly for comfort, so no one really cares
20 ReplyI do a good bit of time but then I'm not big into fashion. More into comfort.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yI personally don't wear anything more casual than jeans and a t-shirt. That's as casual I get in public.
I don't even own a pair of sweat pants, haha!
If others wear it, that's fine. I don't care. I just don't myself :-)00 Reply4.2K opinions shared on Other topic. I've went to the grocery store like that, but I'll normally wear shoes. Flip flops are really bad for your feet.
