He doesn't take care of me when I'm sick, advice?

I've been with my boyfriend for a year now and this is the second time I'm sick during our relationship. he knows I'm sick and he hasn't even offered to come over. I know he's not busy and I live 5 minutes away so its not like a long drive or anything and all he does when I'm sick is tell me to lay down and drink lots of water. am I asking for too much by hoping he'd offer to get me medicine or bring me soup or tea or even just rub my back? advice? opinions?

In my opinion yes as he's a heterosexual male so most likely his sole/main concern and involvement with you is sex or the possibility of it. As well as guys generally don't seem to be caring, nurturing, or loving they want to be care for, nurtured, and love not give it.

Ask your female friends or gay male friends if you have any if you want taking care of when you're sick as guys in my observations are sh*t at this.

In my opinion perhaps lower your expectations on male caring especially when the relationship has spanned more than a month as I find most guys put their best often false impression on and dwindle down.

First we must examine if he is afraid of becoming ill himself as perhaps he has a long history of lacking resilience. Then we must note that he attempts, albeit it is poor and generic advice, to advise you on your illness. While you may think you want a novelesque hero to rush to your side when you have the flu in reality having been in relationships for years I'd recommend to do what he is doing and not get himself sick, have it mutate in his body, and then re-infect you with the mutation. I've been through enough back-and-forth colds to know better.

No your not, but at the sametime, people can nurse themselves.

If you want him to help you, why not voice yourself? tell him to come over and help you, ask him to bring you some soup. He probably thinks your can take care of yourself, you should speak to him and tell him that you would like it if he brought you some soup, or if he took care of you while you where sick.

can you read? I did say I'd hope he'd OFFER to get me something, or "EVEN JUST RUB MY BACK" I'm not interested in him getting me goodies. Obviously nobody would want to risk getting sick but part of the point of being in a relationship is to have someone to help you get through the bad times, not just being around for the good.

What makes you think he wants you to infect him ? ... I assume you have a flu or common cold which is highly contagious.

Can't hold it against him, you probably have either the common cold, or a common type of flu, both of which are highly contagious.

He probably can't afford getting sick since he probably needs to work/study.

I hate to break it to you but a man's got things to do and take care of, and getting sick would make him miss out on income.

That's not what equality means. He is treating you as might treat a close male friend, or even a brother. What you are expecting is coddling that is typically reserved for females. Which is kinda the opposite of equality.
