i honestly don't like it but I can understand that some people don't get a tickly sensation first to alert them and can't put their hands up in time.
when I sneeze I cover my mouth with my hand or a tissue and turn away, or if I have my hands full I hold my stuff out the way and turn around out of peoples way and sneeze as there literally nothing else I can do except drop my stuff or if I cough I can clear my throat and cough with my mouth closed, hand over it whilst turned away
ive had a stranger at the bus stop cough in my face before and I was very shocked and disgusted, I got a sore throat and started couging a week later so I probably caught it from them, its so inconsiderate and unhygenic. I've also had a school friend start coughing all of a sudden without holding her mouth over my sandwich at lunch sat opposite me and I felt really disgusted but didn't say anything as she was quite ill and was kinda out of it but wasn't allowed to go home early as her mum worked all day and couldn't pick her up (sick kids aren't allowed by the school to take the bus home). I didn't eat the sandwich and went hungry

Whenever I cough, I cough into my elbow. Coughing into your hands or next to people is just kinda rude.
Whenever I sneeze, I turn from people. It's gross to sneeze on someone and it's even worse to sneeze into your hands (because you're touching things.)
I have a friend, who's brilliant and all, but she sneezes and coughs into her hands and then has no problem touching people. It's gross. She's fantastic, but it's disgusting.
I have another friend who sneezes all the time and she's actually in the habit of carrying around tissues, which is fine; but she tends to reuse them.
I feel that it should be common knowledge and courtesy to cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing. I am always very vigilant to do so, and greatly appreciate the gesture made by other people.
If someone did not shield themselves, though, I would not recoil in horror... even though they're not exercising consideration, I am not going to treat them poorly. Often times I don't think they even realize it. For many, it probably is a continuation of not doing it as a child-- it is actually very common that I see parents neglecting to instill (or enforce) these simple manners.
I have had jobs where I am so dirty, I can't cover my mouth because so much dirt and muck would fly back in my face. As a result I have gotten in the bad habit of not covering my mouth. I do try to direct away from people, but it is a hard habit for me to break. I don't really care if other people cover their mouths as long as they are not pointed at me.
I think it's gross... I also wouldn't want to touch someone who is coughing into their hand all the time either.. At least they aren't blowing it into my general direction though.

it's a pet peeve of mine. happens a lot. especially on crowded trains. really bothers me. last summer I was riding a crowded train and the girl (20s) standing next to me suddenly sneezed all over my bare arm (holding the handle) and my arm WAS covered in her saliva droplets ! AHHHH
It's absolutely disgusting. My brother does it and he just sprays his mucus all over the place. He thinks making a funnel around his mouth with his hands will somehow make it less disgusting. Then I end up sitting on the place where he sneezed. If it's in a public place, I don't care. Just don't do it in anyone's home, please.
It doesn't really make a difference to me. The germs are coming out of their body in into the environment either way. Whether it's in the air or on the surfaces they touch (some probably escapes to the air even when you do cover up) people will come into contact with them either way. As long as they don't sneeze or cough directly on me I'm happy.
It's rude, and disgusting. All the airborn microscopic organisms that they just spread about. You wonder why people get ill. And how some infectious things spread such as SARS. It's being considerate to cover the sputum yielding nose, and mouth while sneezing.
Reminds me of Monk =)
As long as they're not blowing it in my direction and as long as it's not more than twice, it wouldn't bother me. If someone keeps coughing badly though, it would definitely attract my attention and I would offer them drops if I had one, or gum, to clear their throats. I always cough to my sleeve, and sneeze to my sleeve or shoulder or just generally to a direction where there's no people around. It's a pet-peeve of mine. I do not do this and I do not tolerate it when other people sneeze or cough close to me without covering their mouths. "How does it make you feel?" It irks me and I think it's very impolite. I mean, it's not that hard to cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze.
There's only a select few people that I generally don't care if they sneeze or cough around me. My parents, my boyfriend, and my two best friends. If it's any other family member, friend, or a complete stranger, I'm not having it lol And I usually end up holding my breath until I can walk away far enough from the person.
I don't feel uncomfortable but It is apparent that the person has no manners.
I always cover my mouth, I was taught that has a child.
Those actions continued with me into adulthood.I may be a little hypochondriac. So I hate it when people do that and I get paranoid and "feel sick". Nevertheless, It's disgusting and uncouth. They lack basic manners and common sense that the germs might spread and others would fall sick too. -__-
i think is innapropiated,
i don't like to judge, so if is someone I know I will advice him or her to cover her mouth next time with the inside of his elbow, but if I don't know him or her I would just act as if nothing happen even tho I dislike thatUmm, it is gross! Some people around my school have no concept of personal space, esp around this time of year I don't know why they think it's ok! :o(
I sneeze into my shirt or arm (if I'm wearing long sleeves). Not doing it in public is gross. When I'm at home, in my room, alone, I let it fly sometimes.
This is one of my pet peeves. I dislike when people cough in my vicintity without covering their mouths.
D. It is basic courtesy to cover their mouth and not to spread the viruses
I had a worst similar experience during my lunch today. The guy was sitting around me and when he did! OMG, I was just Outta mind at that time :P
I usually try to cough into my arm so the germs don't get airbourne. If family sneezes or coughs I don't mind though.
It is a major pet peeve of mine and I always hold my breathe when people do that. I will sneak away real quick and then breathe. I usually will find somewhere to wash up too.
I hate when people do that huge pet peeve of mine!
Very impolite
I absolutely hate it!
