No, because to drown my sorrws would mean that I would have to drink until I pass out or close to passing out. And that would take a huge amount of alcohol. While chugging thge stuff, I'd think about what I'm doing to my liver, and that would also make me depressed, so... no, it doesn't work that way for me. Plus, thinking of the hangover the next day would make me out the bottle down.

+1 yNo, surprisingly. I drink quite a lot, but it's always for social purposes. When I'm feeling down or whatever, I opt for useful/positive coping mechanisms - exercise, music, friends, etc. I have a lot of alcoholism in my family, so it's a rule for me to never drink for those kinds of reasons.

I've never done that.

+1 yi am a complete tetotallor , I don't drink in any condition I have other ways to kill my pain and sorrows. The most important thing is I like the way silver surpher does, if there is something dominating you and which is right also, don't fight it just let it be for the time it is going on, just remember god or your inspiration or your family...

No. If I just went through a very stressful couple of days though I sit back and relax and have a few cold ones. It's always at a stopping point after I've completed/accomplished everything that was in my way and causing me stress. Then I decide I need to take some leisure time, and have a few drinks and do nothing serious for at least 24 hours.

+1 yI said yes. Not on an ongoing basis, but I am guilty on occassion I.have said, I'm getting drunk tonight. After some huge stressor, or some huge emotional situation. But it doesny resolve a single thing. It either heightens those emotions or momentarily let's you forget them. I have done it 3 or 4 times. Considering I don't drink because I work a lot and I have kids. Maybe it fives me an excuse to have some fun. But realistically, drinking doesn't solve a single thing.
00 Reply337 opinions shared on Other topic. I drink a couple of glasses of wine each evening but never to wash away sorrows...more to unwind and forget about the stresses in work etc. If I binge drink I feel worse than ever the next few days. A bad hangover will see me cringing at minor things that happened years ago. Can't see how I could use it to wash away my sorrows unless I just stayed drunk.

+1 yNah, I've never 'drank'.
Just put my iPod in, go to bed and get over myself. I've always tried to find the funny in some disastrous, hopeless situations I've found myself in. I care less and less about most things. Seems to help.20 Reply

hahaha I'm sorry...idk if that was meant to be funny but I lol-ed.
I have tried to drink my sorrows away on one or two occasions and I also occasionally eat my feelings lol00 Reply
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yKinda... I've never reached a terribly depressing point where I needed to constantly drink but there have been times when I would just go to the bar by myself to contemplate over tough decisions that I made. I find that it doesn't really do anything in the long run though. You're going to feel the same way the next day.

+1 yYes, it has happened quite a few times but it's shitty cause if you did it with the purpose to escape then when you get back to reality it's shitty even more (at least for me). So I try to drink just for fun or something.
00 Reply Nope. Well, I was very depressed one day and I went out and chugged down some drinks but after that, it made me more depressed. I don't think drinking away my sorrows helped me in anyway. It only made matters worse.
00 Reply1.9K opinions shared on Other topic. I know and have always known it doesn't work, but when I was at a low point in work I drank a lot and drank whilst on lunch etc... For the most part though I don't bother with it since I know it's not a solution.

+1 yHaha. I've never drank alcohol in my entire life. I'm 23. I know it's hard to believe, but it's true. I never liked the smell, so I never put it in my mouth. Oops. That last part didn't sound right.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yI have a few times. I did it once when I got used as a rebound. That was definitely a rough time. I've also smoked cigarettes during times when I was down.
Not a good idea either because it only leads to you doing it more when you're still depressed.00 ReplyI only drink when I'm in a good mood. Drinking while I'm sad would feel kinda artificial, like laughing when I feel like crying or something like that, and that can only make me feel worse.

+1 ySure, if it's water. Though, only time helps with that kind of thing. & if you're referring to liquor, that only brings much larger problems, and complicates your life even more.
00 Reply2.9K opinions shared on Other topic. Nope, I don't drink! I think adding alcohol to misery just makes things worse. Sure, it might numb the pain while you're drunk, but once it's gone all you're left with is more misery and a hangover.

+1 yNo, I don't drink. But even if I did, I'd probably avoid it when I'm not feeling well emotionally. I wouldn't want to make a habit of going to the bottle every time I'm feeling down.
