Does "last activity" on Skype represent the last time a contact has been active towards you..or just overall? Also, does it show for the last time someone checked your message?

What does the "away" status mean?

Can contacts tell when you're "invisible"? If so, how?

Like everyone says, last activity is the last time you contacted that particular contact.

I don't think Skype shows the last time you checked your messages like whatsapp.

Away means you are away from your device and hence won't respond immediately.

If you are invisible someone calling you on an audio or video call will know you are on invisible mode. To be totally incognito you to 'offline' but in which case you can't see who's online too nor can make calls :)

away means you are not at the computer right then.

Invisible yes the only way is if they call you. It rings on both ends so they will know you are online. If you want to prevent then switch it too "offline" and that's self explanatory from there.

I think "last activity" on Skype represents the last time that you interacted with the contact.

The fact that you have sent a message to this contact is considered as “activity”. The same would have been the case if you would try to call this contact.

Contacts can tell if you're invisible only if they message you. When someone is invisible and you send him a message it won't pend, it will be sent immediately.

I don't know about the last activity but "away" means they have been idle, or not at their computer. So they are "away".

Invisible shows you offline, I'm not sure because I haven't used it in forever, but on some things like Yahoo messenger you can make exceptions... like be invisible (appear offline) to everyone but so and so.
