The fact of the matter is that girls are judged more on how they look, their attire is more complicated and also more revealing, which means they spend more time fussing over getting it right.

LOL- to be honest, I've never really understood it either (I'm a bit of tomboy). To me, being on time is important so even if it's going to take me 2 hours to get ready, then I start at least 2.5 hours before I need to leave (this almost NEVER happens). Even if I'm getting ready for a date, it's not likely to take more than an hour at most.
My getting ready process for an average night out:
Shower (15 min)
Do my hair (5 min)
Moisturize (2 min)
Get dressed (10 min)- If I haven't already picked out my outfit, I usually have a pretty good idea of what I'm wearing by the time I get ready. It tends towards jeans and a nice shirt most of the time.
Make-up (5 min)- This is optional, most days I don't bother with it, but if I feel like it or we're going somewhere fancy, I'll throw on mascara, eye shadow, and lip gloss.
DONE- I think that totals about 45 minutes...
The only time this takes longer is if I don't have control over it- like if I'm in someone's wedding and we're having our hair and makeup professionally done. But don't take my routine as normal- I'm not much of a girly girl and I'll go almost anywhere in jeans and a tank top.
I don't take a long time to get ready. Usually I'm done within 20 minutes, even if I'm going "all out". The thing that actually takes time for me is going places! I don't drive and I hate public transportation, so I mostly just walk everywhere. :P
But to actually answer your question, girls do their makeup in the bathroom (often, if not in their own room). Putting makeup on can take lots of time if you actually have the energy to perfect it (which I don't, as long as I look decent I don't really care). Curling lashes, putting on primers and foundations and concealers, mascara, eye shadow, lip gloss/lipstick, rouge etc. And then you still have to do your hair... straighten or curl it, put it up, make a braid etc. It all takes a decent amount of time. We just have lots of different things to get done.
It never takes me more than 15-20 minutes to get ready. If I need to shower, make it thirty. But I usually shower at night because my hair looks best when I've slept on it. My anxiety doesn't allow me to be late. I cannot be late or I will have a panic attack. I once set aside an hour to do my hair and makeup for a wedding and was done with everything in 15 minutes. And that was for full makeup. On a regular day I get up and make sure my hair looks okay and if it doesn't, throw it up, get dressed, and then put on a layer of mascara. Hair- 5 minutes makeup- 5 minutes and clothes- 5 minutes.
Now getting ready for bed is an entirely different story. That takes 30 minutes... Very strict routine.

It takes me 15 minutes to get ready as I don't wear makeup or do my hair. But showers take the longest, especially if she hasn't showered at all. Then she has to shave her legs, armpits, cuca, etc lol. That can take 15-30 mins. Next is hair. Hair could take 15-30 minutes to dry, then 30-60 min to style or straighten. Then they have to pick an outfit if they haven't already which could take another 30 minutes. Then figure out which perfume to spray on. And then put on their face, which takes 15-30 min also.
Shower-30 mins
Dry Hair-30 mins
Style-60 mins
Outfit-30 mins
Makeup-30 min
Total= 3 hours to get ready for a date. If you called her last minute to get ready for a date, she'll try her best to get everything down to at least an hour after you called. But more than likely, it takes 3 hours to get ready.Wow I feel bad now
I shower always before going anywhere, which takes 15-20 mins.
I always plan outfits in my mind, so it doesn't take long to put on clothes, so it takes me 5 mins
Makeup: 10 mins. If I follow from a video, it takes 20 mins.
I was blessed with awesome hair , so I don't really do too much with my hair, so it takes 5 mins.
For a date it takes me an hour to get ready. I grew up in a family where being on time is in my blood haha.
I always know how long I will take depending on certain things, so I get ready earlier if anything.
I actually dated guys who take longer than me, so it's not a female thing to be late.I don't know about the rest of the girls.. but I mainly take long because of my hair...
I have big curly hair.. so I blow dry it to them calm it back down and then after that everything else is pretty fast! I don't know why girls with straight or wavy hair take long.. maybe they wear more make up than I do.. because even if they're curling their hair, it takes less time to curl than to do what I do.. so idk..
so guys really hate girls that take long? ... then for example if she takes up 2 hours or so, then why not let her know well ahead of time before, so she can be ready on time? :/I find that I have to allow myself at least two hours to get ready. This goes for getting ready for work (I work in fashion retail) For meeting up with friends guys or girls, and tack on another hour if it is a date. Basically this is what a normal day out looks like for me.
Shower - 30 Minutes
Hair -45 Minutes
Makeup 45 Minutes
Outfit - 15 Minutes
Placing Bag Essentials - 10 Minutes
My hair takes a little longer because I am an African American women, so It just takes a little more time, and my makeup I tend to take my time and do - although if I'm in a rush I can do it in 20 minutes. To be totally honest I look at my naked body in the mirror for like 5 minutes. Then I shower and take like 20 minutes then I stay there like 10 more minutes while the cold water falls on me. Step out of the shower look at my naked body for about 5 minutes too see what others would see if I was naked in front of other people. I brush my teeth then I see I have a black head or some out of place eyebrow so I take care of that... Lotion on entire body and then walk to my room to decide what I want to wear. 30 minutes later I'm ready.
I have music on the entire time so I sing along. When a song comes up that I don't like I stop what I'm doing to change it. If I get a text I answer it. Lots of interruptions while I get ready.Well, like the other girls said it depends on the occasion. If it's just an average day, it takes me all of 10 minutes (assuming I've showered the night before).
If I'm going out or on a date, though, definitely much longer:
Shower - 20 minutes (including shaving half of my body)
Primping after the shower - 20 minutes (usually I'll pluck my eyebrows and put on lotion)
Pick out outfit/get dressed - 15 minutes (depending on how indecisive I am that day lol)
Makeup - 30 minutes
Dry/style hair - 30 minutes
So about 2 hours for me with everything included, give or take.We want to look good and if you rush it won't come out right, trust me. If you know what you are putting on: clothes, make up and style of hair you should know how long it takes and should have a system down lol Practices makes perfect but we take our sweet time. :)
I think teenage girls, really young like 15 or so do this more often than the rest of us. I never really took THAT long to get ready. I think naturally pretty is a real pretty and all the make-up, overdone hairdo, etc., it's all about being insecure lol
It's in girls nature. But whether girls are going on a date or just going to pick up pizza from a drive through they always want to be presentable. We worry about what others will think. Every tho we have been taught to not care about what others think of us. We try to impress
For me, I go through outfits. I have my futon filled with clothes right now because I vetoed them. We, girls, want to be presentable. If it's a date, then we want to show that we're clean and nice looking. Also, there are girls that are on time. I'm one of the prompt girls who hates being late. So it's all about the girl.
My hair is crazy curly, it take time to tame it and make it look a certain way. Also there is all the grooming, moisturizing, applying our makeup so we look flawless and natural, then selecting the perfect underwear and outfit. basically we want to look nice for you so you will stay interested in us :).. We tend to tone it down and relax once we are comfortable with someone.
I take a long time but I'm never late, I plan it out lol! My routine is shower, make up, dry my hair, straighten or style it, brush my teeth, get dressed :)
It takes my male friend longer to get ready than it takes me lol
I don't do my hair or make up unless going someplace nicePoor time management skills in my case. I can't excuse my lateness with my mannishly short hair. I'm just a procrastinator.
Ifunny \(•_•)/ jk, some girls either but a butt load of make up or the take forever to decide on what to wear or they are being distracted by something such as instagram or something
Excuse me sir, I'll have you know that I'm dressed and ready to leave in just five minutes.
If we dont spend the time that we do, usually there will be comments like 'you look tired' 'your hair is messy'
If you called Depending on where we're going I could be ready in as little as 10 minutes 45 at the most OK maybe an hour.
Girls always have so much more to work on when it comes to appearance. Makeup and hair do take a while.
They have to do our hair and makeup and they have to make sure everything is perfect for our guy. They want to make sure that they look good and stuff.
