What was the hardest year of high school for you?

Im currently a junior in high school and I freakin hate it. Last year I had over a 4.0 gpa, but this year, I only have a 3.3. To have a ton of hw each night and to have only a 3.3 to show for it is very frustrating for me.

So what was the hardest for you?

Well I'm currently a sophomore so I'll have to eliminate Sophomore and Senior year.

But, I'm not surprised most people tend to say Junior year is the hatdest do to SATs, homework, collage applications, etc.

They also say Senior year is the easiest considering you went through HELL Junior year, they say it's a break, pretty easy and the most fun year.

Now as for me... I guess I would have to say Freshman year. Not do to the reasons like most people would think such as we're the new comers, we get pranked, bood, pennies tossed at us. That's actually extremely cliche.( Well then again most people thought I was a Junior)

I chose Freshman year, because just like the name states you're a fresh man. You have a new beginning. That being said some of your closest friends go to diffetet schools or has different classes. You have to find your way around a new area and be ON TIME! You have to make new friends and avoid making enemies and fights. It seems like your classes are just a repeat of everything you learned before even stuff from the really young years and you forgot how to do it. Not to mention it's the year, unless you are an AMAZING straight A student, we decide to slack off and eithet have to make it up right before thr grades go out or work even harder during your sophomore year.

So yeah... Freshman year was definitely my hardest year so far. But hey that can easily change Sophomore year isn't over yet and I still have Junior and Senior year to go!

Sophomore year was the hardest because I had AP World History.

It wasn't hard because it was an AP class, or that I'm super bad at history or anything, but it was just a series of unfortunate events.

/begin rant

This was the first year they offered this class to sophomore students, and they hired a new teacher for this, so no one was really experienced in this. Our teacher sucked, he had no idea what he was doing. He was a sweet guy, but he didn't know the material any better than we did.

Which was a problem because we didn't get our textbooks until like December (because of some ordering problem and getting the wrong edition, something weird). Which meant for like 4 months we were trying to learn out of nothing.

It sounds like a dream not having a textbook but that just meant we had to do more online research to understand stuff for the tests we took.

Those tests were from the AP website, not our teacher, so of course we knew none of the material and all did horribly. But our school just passed a new curriculum rule which doesn't allow large curves.

I studied more for this one class than I did for ALL my other classes (Freshman-Senior year, including all my other AP classes), and it STILL crushed my GPA.

Sophomore and Junior - half of junior year. I know man junior year was worse because I had this girl always bullying me. I never retaliated because I didn't want to say anything but then she said something to me once and I reported her then I'd had enough. She would act all snobby and stuff. Makes me wonder why I didn't see it coming - she used to take her shirt off in class - it was all girls in the class but still a bit weird. Lol - she ended up being a teen mom at 15 nearly 16 and dropped out of school

sophomore year I kinda realized the friends I do everything for and am always there for are kind of users.

In terms of subject I enjoyed all of them but science - my teacher couldn't handle the class - it was chaos - ended up failing that

Freshman year. I didn't know how to work & beat their system. By sophomore yr. I had it all planned out.

I took PE in summer school. one credit That was great organized sports. Then my Junior year I took keyboarding in summer school. one Credit.

Along the way I found out that if you had a job working in a consumer related industry they would give you one credit for that & be allowed to take a course related to that for one credit.

With those 2 credits I only needed 2 more to graduate. I took chorus one credit & the mandatory religion & PE 1/2 credit each. I was in by 9 & out by noon. I had a 3.? GPA. That's all that mattered.

The guidance counselor was not happy with my "taxing curriculum" I kept repeating the same question to him. How many credits do I need to graduate? 30(?) he replied. With these classes how many will I have? 30 he replied. No matter what he said I would just repeat the same questions. Finally I told him "I haven't liked it here since day 1! I haven't done any extra curricular activities. Nothing! Not even a sock hop. Give me my diploma & you will never see me again!

I have never been back. As a matter of fact I'll go out of my way not to drive past that dump.

There were definitely some pretty hard times in my sophomore and junior years, but I'm tempted to say the beginning of freshman may have been my hardest since I didn't really have any friends left. A few moved the year before, one became a complete jerk the year before, etc., so I was fairly alone for the most part of my first year until I met a really nice girl who was a friend of one of my friends who moved. About 7 years have now passed and we're still excellent friends.

Of course, once you get to know people in high school, drama starts, as does unrequited love for some, so I'm sure you can see why I might also classify sophomore or junior as my hardest years.

I had to go with A, funny enough I had to ask my husband what year grade 9 was lol, I was so nervous having to go to school with high schoolers, all these people I had never really interacted with before I was in French Immersion so I was in classes with the same 3 groups of students since I was in grade one, and the other kids that were in my grad stayed with me every year, they were my closest friends, high school none of us were together other then like 2 french classes it was a big change, add on lockers and class changes it was a big adjustment.

Freshman year, I skipped a math level & did not go to the summer school course and was like "Holy S***!" I caught on but had a lot of help from my friends which I had in almost if not every class until we graduated. Freshman year was just weird because it was very different from middle school. All the teachers said we won't be here to hold your hand along the way like you were in middle school. I think that was dumb for them to say lol but Freshman to Junior year was Honors & AP so that sucked, constant homework, late nights, too many essays, until Senior year came along & I loved life! lol

High School was so easy and fun for me :p! and I was in honors and AP classes.

I had a hard time in 6th grade though.. junior high/middle school... I was scared for some reason and when I didn't know something, I didn't want to ask anyone for help because I thought they were gonna think I'm stupid xD ... what I didn't know is.. it's far more stupid not to ask when you don't understand something. :]! It's funny how people change... I changed.

Hope it gets better for you... if it's a certain subject you're having trouble with, that's keeping your gpa at an all time low, them maybe consider getting tutored for it... and if it's a time problem.. such as you don't have enough time to finish all the hw they assign you, then try managing your time more constructively. ... like not coming on gag and rather using that time on studying or doing hw :p! gl!

it goes year 7-12

for me, my hardest years were years 10 and 12. 10 involved a lot of emotional shit, year 12 wow that was so academically stressful…. I cried a lot that year, so glad its over.

they were both worse than each other but for the sake of the question ill go with yr12 which I'm guessing is senior.

Eh...don't do drugs or party or chase a highschool drama queen. If you are still underscoring yourself then that's it... things are not suppose to be easy. 3.3 is not a low score by any mark no matter what the geek squad & ivy league mr./mrs. prestige say. If it was an "unspeakable" 2.3 then I would be concerned but you are fine.

Colleges would rather take someone who has actually overcome and achieved something than someone who has stayed more or less stayed the same. If they don't do that, then they are not really doing their job right.

Grade 12 for sure. That's when I took Astronomy, Advanced Functions, Biology, and Physics. Astronomy being the hardest class for me due to all the different formulas and calculations.

Don't worry about GPA too much, just have fun.

it was hardest because I changed schools after freshman year and socially it was difficult because durign your freshman year so many cliques and social groups are formed. luckily I had lots of friends from my previous school and slowly but surely got to know people in the new school

Senior year was the most difficult, surprisingly. My school messed up many of our classes , and we had extra classes while other kids only had like 4 classes in their senior year. Also that's when choosing the right college became very intimidating. Lastly as a girl, when prom comes around it's also nerve racking lol

Relax. Universities and colleges just look at your 3rd, but mainly 4th year. And 3.3 is still a good mark :) I wouldn't say I ever had a bad year in highschool. But on the 3rd year, I no longer wanted friends or anything. I was kind of antisocial and depressed, but it was just a learning experience for me :)

My freshman year was the worst. I was way too young (13) and just had a really hard time in general. Piling honors classes on top of my social trouble made it that much worse. I was so stressed!

It gets better. As you go on, you get to pick better classes and it becomes more fun. Hang in there :)
