Girls who travel: Would you date a guy who's never traveled but wants to?

Question

The girl I have a crush on is a big traveller and likes travelling in  Europe  with her friend, she is multi- lingual as well. 
I on the other hand have only been abroad once when I was a child. I have had a desire to travel in  Europe  for years but because I am self-employed and have studied a college degree I haven't been able to take the time off work. I can get by in French but am by no means bi-lingual.
If you were her would you give me a chance or would my lack of travelling/languages be a complete turn off for you?

It wouldn't be a turn off, but I mean it does in my mind raise some concerns about whether you would actually get me, because we value different things (at least in my case). You have a desire to travel, but you don't value it above money or else you would have made it a priority above you job. Which there is nothing wrong with and I'm not knocking it what so ever. But could you understand how nothing is more valuable to me then a plane ticket? And how I can not get stressed quiting my job and move to another country to wait tables and explore that country for a bit? Now if you were sick of your life and wanted to live as I do and that was your passion I totally have no problem helping you dive in with me, and obviously that would make a great relationship for me, but the real question is: is that the life YOU want? Can you keep up with me? Cause I am always on the move and it's hard to leave someone you care about behind... At the same time there are people in our lives, whom despite the pain we just can't do without. Are you two together in that category?

I don't mean to discourage you, by all means I think you should give it a shot, but I also don't want to lie to you and let you believe that love can conquer all in all cases and this will be a bed of roses. Because at the end of the day traveling girls are wild and wonderful and crazy and just a bit of a handful :).

So really the true question is: are you game?

Not a turn-off at all!

The only turn-off would be if it turns out you're a terrible person to travel with, by which I mostly mean if you're close-minded and arrogant when it comes to immersing yourself in a new culture. I've traveled with people who complained and argued and stayed in their rooms all day because they were upset that certain aspects of a new culture were different than what they were used to in America... it's frustrating and embarrassing, so say the least.

Anyways, you should be fine. If you were to travel with her, it doesn't matter too much that you don't know the language of the country you travel to. It's always helpful of course, but there are plenty of people across the world who visit countries where they don't know the language, you wouldn't be the first. You get by one way or another.

I'm sort of in the opposite situation, I love to travel and I speak a couple languages, but my boyfriend works a lot and doesn't usually stray too far from home / work. I'd love to get the chance to travel with him sometime.

I had an ex bf who was a big traveller. I always wanted to go on trips with him and I would always ask but he never did. He had aspirations to go all over the world and I told him that if he wanted to, I would go with him. Of course he didn't, and what it turned out to be was that he didn't actually love me :(

But honestly, if I was in his position, I wouldn't care if my bf hadn't travelled anywhere. I would want to show him the world!!

For me it would be awesome being able to show him around to all my favourite haunts in different places. Get to see it all again through his eyes for the first time.

I think any girl who would be turned off is not the right girl for you! Just like how my experience went. It just wasn't the right person.

My bf now wants to go on trips with me :)

"oh you haven't been to the Louve or the Taj Mahal? what a loser!" if she's like that, then you don't need her.

you want to travel, no-one likes traveling alone so she'd appreciate the company, and it would probably be refreshing to her to be with someone with the fresh wonderment and thrill of going overseas for the first time (s)

That's a big plus, a guy who wants to travel with you!
Doesn't have to be everyday, and hopefully we would go to places I don't know as well, discovering them together =D

Also one of the funny things about travelling, you can do it in your own country as well.
If internationally, no offense, but most English tourists I find can only speak English and yet they're still travelling everywhere. Shouldn't be too much of a problem, especially in Nordic countries.
These days, there are also many package deals, you can eventually join a tour and not exactly go backpacking. The options are endless~

I would definitely date a guy who hasn't traveled and wants to. However, it would depend on how much he wants it.

A lot of people travel, but for me it's more than spending the summer abroad. I want to travel for months, if not years, at a time. I'd want a guy to be willing to put his career and all that serious stuff on hold to go and explore with me :)

As long as you actually want to see the world, then yes, I'd say that if i was her, I'd still date you. It's waaaay better than you not even wanting to leave the country. And don't worry about the whole language barrier in another country, as long as you can communicate with her, it's totally cool.

im a big traveler and currently travellng at the moment. but i am travelling alone and it kind of sucks because i would rather spend and share all these beautiful moments with someone else instead of myself. i think it would be nice that you go travel with her.

Traveling is knowledge and knowledge is relevant to ego, who wouldn't enjoy spreading their knowledge? I know what you're getting at though. Like you may not feel like you are up to her "speed".
Get talking to her about it and travel as friends, maybe as more!

some girls travel because their families are rich enough to support them  in first class air flights etc etc, but most peopel nowadays go backpacking cause its much funner and way cheaper. i mean it's not your fault you haven't had the time to actually go travelling, so it would be awesome for a guy who hasn't travelled yet but wants to. the girl would love to show you around and show off her compass skills hahaha

I am a traveler.. Nothing gets me excited more than the prospect of going on an adventure. But I tend to care more about a person's character than his lack of travel history. If he is interested then all the better.

Actually that should not be a problem. I have taken many relationship classes and one of the main things psychologists recommend to boost relationship satisfaction is to do novel things (such as traveling) together. Good luck!

I actually couldn't care less about other people's travelling history lol. Unless they have some cool stories to share. Otherwise it's definitely not a factor that determines how attractive I think a guy is.

Nope, would be a nice experience to travel together. I've travelled quite a bit and don't consider 'lack of travelling' a turn off or even a factor when deciding on a romantic interest.

I assume a lot of it would depend on if he has the money to travel. Otherwise they would get stuck at home with him, or stuck paying his way all the time.
