I have heard it before, lots of times, but not when chatting with someone who I kind of flirt with.
Not sure if it is just something people say or if in this case more to it.
I'm fond of phrases that generally mean 'scars are impressive'. "Chicks dig scars" is just a version of this with a secondary focus on a certain connotation, much like "scars make you stronger" or "scars are like notches on a sword". A scarred individual is a storied individual.
"Chicks dig scars" is a form of this that goes the women like tough guys -> tough guys get lots of scars by way of their everyday toughguyery -> women take scars as a marker of a guy who will likely be consistent with their likes. Almost never do I think this is the intent behind the expression though - folks are just looking for a cool way to say that scars are impressive.
Personally, most of my scars are from childhood injuries, but I've gotten a few lately on my hands from carving and sawing accidents. I've noticed something of an exponential decay in their accumulation as I've gotten more practiced, so I'm not sure if many scars on a craftsman are indicative of a good craftsman or one that never learned from his injuries.
You told what it means- which I knew, but again didn't ANSWER my question!
It's just something to say.
As was conveyed by last sentence of second paragraph.
There's at least one study that found women were indifferent to scars in choosing long term partners, but actually found men with scars more attractive for a short relationship. (Men were indifferent to scars in women, period).
So there may be some truth to it. I imagine you could dig up the study if you really care.
My cousin wiped out today and my aunt said "chicks dig scars, and by that I mean girls like it when it looks like you do stuff". So that's what it's about. Scars make it look like you do stuff.
I don't dig scars unless that scar is from male enhancement surgery.
Don't care. Not what I asked. You didn't answer what I asked.
