Are Caribbean men more likely to cheat on you?

Question

I don't mean this question to be anything controversial. It is a real question without prejudice. Just wondering if Caribbean men have a different upbringing (e.g. dad has more than one woman) and they are therefore more likely to be unfaithful.

I understand that you shouldn't generalize people but would like to hear your opinions/experiences anyway.

I'm thinking of dating one but don't want to get my heart broken hence the question.

On the contrary, these males are often the most in demand and have a status that's true the roof.

So often, even if the girl finds out he's cheating they kind of interpret it like this:

- He's a man, that's what men do (believe me, they WILL say that)

- Yeah he has all these hoes but in the end of the night he still comes back to me, so I'm his number one girl bitches!

- the fact that they have man that actually CAN cheat displays a certain value that he has. No one wants a man that none of the other girls want. They want somebody who's in demand.

- A lot of girls in the Caribbean get a kick of their man doing everything that's wrong, even though they will never say they like it. For example in Curacao a lot of men are directly or indirectly related to drug dealing, import or export (to The Netherlands, where the prices of cocaine are 5 times higher), like seeing their Boyfriend get all angry or getting into fights (especially when their defending her honor) and explaining their criminal activity in great details to their friends even when their GF's are around. In a way, all these bad behavior really turns women on, the kick of adventure just makes them more attracted to them then to the average 9 to 5 box office worker with a steady, predictable and scandal less life.

Also you should know that even if the guy has no real intention of cheating, his friends will often push him to the point or make fun about it all the time.

They will make comments like "are you still sleeping with the same woman? Damn!" which can push some to cheating.

Also I've noticed that where I live now (Netherlands, for studying) that men are disgusted by cheating. So much that they will even tell on their FRIENDS to their gf's saying that her Boyfriend cheated.

You would never encounter that in Curacao lol.

Ok so that's basically all I have to say about the "why".

Here comes the other part (the advantages);

- If you are into black guys

- If you are an adventure seeker

- they are very caring about their GF's and will go far to support and protect them. A simple example; a guy touching the ass of the Girlfriend of dutch male can often get away with it whilst the Caribbean ones will make sure you will never do it again.

- I've noticed that they do a lot of sweet talking, so will constantly flatter you with compliments etc and *sadly* sometimes with lies about future relationship, commitments and illusions. Although I have to say that Latin men are more into that. They can "love' 3 girls at the same time haha. They just trow those words around like it's candy.

Overall, I would say go for it, it will probably be a nice experience and I know many relationship of Caribbean men with foreign women working out (heck, my mom's dutch and married to my dad) plus a lot of friends and family are married to or have dutch GF's.

Plus a lot of women come to the Caribbean for short term flings so for those women, we are def more attractive then their own males haha.

I'm from Curacao, Netherlands Antilles and in short my answer is Yes, we are more likely to cheat.

The simple reason that in the Caribbean people have a different way of viewing relationships then in the western world.

First off, you should know that the macho/alpha male culture is the main way of thinking you will encounter.

A few typical examples are:

- having a superior physique

- not being afraid to jump into fights or apply violence

- having different women at the same time

- Eating chicken. Hahah I just couldn't leave that one out but it's so true.

There are even books written about the topic, even though they are semi comedic they do hold some basis of truth. I only know the dutch ones and the most popular one is called "waarom de antiliaanse man vreemdgaat" which basically says "why does the Antillean male cheat"

A few popular arguments are the following, in no particular order:

we're all descendants of slaves, and slaves were made to breed with other slaves.

So the best males were hand selected and directed to have sex with the best women (for nurturing purposes and better genes).

This is one of the reasons why so many blacks dominate sports etc and in general are bigger and stronger.

This whole mating culture where the male slaves were made to sleep with different women became so normal and passed on from generation to generation.

Imagine the first freed slaves just continuing this habit and their sons looking up to that etc etc.

Second, which isn't specifically a trait of Carribean people but poor, undereducated people in general is that they respond very strongly to emotions, threats of violence, honor etc. In my opinion, they act more to their instinct instead of thoroughly rationalizing thoughts so in a way, they are more closer to the way nature wanted things to be.

In nature, men are very dominant, territorial and protective of everything that's theirs and the alpha males with superior genes get to mate with several women at the same time and this is accepted because the alpha has to spread his genes as much as possible for a better, superior offspring.

You can easily find these traits amongst Italians and Latino's as well whilst in the western world people tend to believe that everybody has a chance and that everyone is equal.

Women and men, men and inferior men.

Some small examples of this going trough the western world: the city Sparta put a lot of value on these beliefs (inequality) and for example in the Third Reich Hitler also tried to distinguish superior beings from inferior.

Think about it, rules like "commit to one women" etc arise with religions etc and basically forced males to commit to one women even though by nature they can't do this.

Another reason is simply, people won't judge you when you cheat and it's actually so normal that no one will even bother mentioning it to your Girlfriend unless they personally have a grudge against you.

That's what I've heard. I'm part Bajan and Guyanese on my mom's side but culturally I'm more black American so I don't have that connection to the Caribbean. I wish I did *sigh*.  But from my vague experiences yeah they are more likely to cheat because of the way they view things.  It is more accepted for a man to have a main girlfriend/wife but mess around with other women, but the woman is expected to be subservient to her man.  It is expected that men will be men so a lot of the women don't even trip when they find out.  It's a very macho, male-dominated culture but that doesn't mean that every guy is like that. If the guy has Caribbean heritage but is more Americanized he may not follow the old school way of thinking.  But it's just as likely that his family, especially the older male figures may encourage it.  But then again many guys of all ethnicities are not too good at being faithful either lol so who knows.  Don't generalize, I say give the guy a chance but be watchful.

i'm haitian and I would NEVER date a caribbean man. my brothers all cheat, my father cheated, and every caribbean dude I know thinks he's a pimp. they have no respect for women whatsoever because women are objects and sex is meaningless in the culture, unless you're a girl - then sleeping around and cheating is frowned upon.

I guess it depends.

If you are dating them while you are on vacation in the Caribbean, then yes, of course they are somewhat likely to cheat on you (typical holiday romance)

But if you met him at home, I guess then there's just the same likelihood of him cheating as with other men you'd date

All men regardless of race or nationality are generally the same. The difference being their inherited personality as well as their upbringing. If you want to see what a guy is like and how he treats a girl, then look at his dad. If you want to see how a girl is look at her mom. If the guy doesn't have a father then he won't know how to treat a girl or how to be a real man.

In your situation when a guys father cheats on the mom, then it would make him much more likely to cheat on his girlfriend.

Well I'm Jamaican and ashamed to say they do cheat a lot men and women, how many times have I heard of angry common law wives hunting down their men at the other woman's house to fling stones and argue? Shameful really but we aren't all like that, I'd never cheat. I wonder how it happens, one day they're the nicest  guys the next they're man hoes, I blame the women in their lives, nothing like a sharp tongued Caribbean woman to push your self esteem way down and send you finding the easiest way to get it back up, sex with a woman who thinks you are all that and a bag of hammers. I promised myself I'd never cheat, no sex till marriage and no relationship unless I'm serious about it.

I think that men typically follow the example of their father, eventually. And Latin (Caribbean) men have a history of being less than monogamous. Your guy might be different, but maybe an open relationship would be good for you both.
