Would you care if you were in a relationship where you were physically stronger and you could (hypothetically) kick your boyfriend's butt in a fight?
Does the man HAVE to be the physically stronger/tougher half of the couple or is that old fashioned and sexist?
We no longer say men HAVE to make more money or they HAVE to be the breadwinner while the woman stays home and raises the kids..
I'm a skinny, small framed guy who isn't that strong and I've never been in a fight. I don't have trouble dating or meeting girls but I think that is because they see me as non-threatening and safe. They know I won't get grabby or pushy on a first date or I won't turn into an abusive boyfriend because they could pretty much kick my ass if they wanted to.
They think it's kind of cute at first! They can beat me arm wrestling or they could beat me up if they wanted to. Then I think they get frustrated or want a traditionally stronger guy.
I dated one women who considered herself a feminist and HATES gender roles. One day I was helping her move out of her apartment and she was getting frustrated that she could lift more than I could and I couldn't keep up with her. I was panting and a sweaty mess while she was barely breaking sweat and doing more of the work. She wouldn't say she was upset about it but I could tell.
With another girl, we were in a club and a drunk guy was hitting on her. I told him that we were together and to leave us alone and his drunk buddies goaded him on.. "Whoa Josh, don't piss off her boyfriend" they said sarcastically. My date then got in "Josh's" face and loudly told him to "Fuck Off, asshole!" at which point we were all asked to leave. We both realized that if something more happened, I wouldn't back down but, realistically, she would be better prepared to defend herself than I would be protecting her. She had been in fights with guys in the past and I've never been in a fight at all.
