Do undergraduate girls have no interest in older graduate student guys?

When I hit on a girl who is an undergraduate student, I feel like she becomes indifferent and distant immediately upon telling her that I am a graduate student. When I say that, do I sound nerdy or like I will not likely have a good job. Or maybe that I might be really old and married already?

Is there something about being a graduate student guy that turns off an undergraduate?

This has happened to me since I first went to grad school when I was 23.

Also, I have a very attractive female friend who said that people acted differently toward her when she told them she was a grad student. Like guys would hit on her, and then stop upon learning that. Or that people would chat with her friendly like, and then learn she is a grad student and stop. So it is not just me.

So, is there some type of non dating clause between those getting graduate degrees and those getting masters degrees.

it could be a range of things, when saying this, it could mean that you're older [older than you really are that is], intelligence is an amazing thing to have, and wouldn't stop me, although older may mean more mature and some of these girls might think that you're in a different place in life. lets say they like to drink and party, but you say that you're done with school [maybe giving off the 'settling down' vibe..they might stay away.

another perspective is that they're intimidated, if you have a lot of things going for you, they might not feel that they're at the same level. I'm currently interested in someone who gets straight As, and if I had known that prior to getting to know him, that might have scared me off. I get pretty good grades, but not all A's and I think if I knew that beforehand, I might think that I'm not good enough.

or..to be blunt, they're not interested, they have interest in someone else, or they're already taken?

It could be any of those things.

It was never hard for me to get good grades. 3.87 high school gpa-3.49 undergrad 3.76 Masters.

I am in a doctorate now. But I don't TELL PEOPLE THAT I have those gpas. I have even stopped telling girls I am in the doctoral program. Girls immediately stop showing interest then. So the intimidation thing might fall into this category.

Or, when they see me, they realize I must be much older. I am 25

Or if they are taken, most times girls tell me they are.

every girl is different, and they all have something different going on in their lives/mind. you don't always have to tell girls that you have a high gpa, sometimes they can just tell, observing your work ethic, or even going into the doctorate program.. people who don't do well in school don't go for their doctorate.

it's hard for me to get good grades, which is why I'm [still actually] slightly intimidated by the 4.0 guy.

Grad guys are HOT!

The undergrad guys have LONG future ahead. Not in a bad way. But I mean they CONSTANTLY need to work. They might not work hard enough to go to grad school. They might just fall through the cracks...

On the other hand, grad guys SHOW that they're hard workers.

They've done great in undergrad, or they wouldn't be in grad school.

They also have a GREAT future ahead of them after grad school compared to a guy with just undergrad degree.

Grad guys ARE hot. Either the girl is just intimidated, shy, afraid you're playing her (since you're grad and have no real "reason" to be interested in her when there are pretty girls in grad school too), or doesn't want to encroach on the age boundary. She might just feel uncomfortable hanging out with older people.

Don't know why, really. 18 and 19 year olds are not exactly what I call, sexy...

I have hit on whomever I thought was pretty. Sometimes they end up being 18. But in most cases I would prefer a girl who is 20-22. I have completed a bachelors, and a masters degree and am pursuing a Doctorate now. I totally thought Doctorate was synonymous with having lots of women, but I guess not. I feel like I am having MORE TROUBLE getting a girl now then ever.

I am really bummed.

And actually, I am going on a 6 month musical tour of South America in January. So I am out of time:-(

I actually feel like I am a pretty damn attractive guy. I have many very good features. The only feature that I don't have is that even though I work out and keep in good shape, I am not as buff as other college guys. I am 6 foot 1 and 185 pounds. I want to think this is my only real problem. I have become unhappy with my lack of being able to get women this semester. By lack of, let me say I have gotten about 12 phone numbers and have gotten laid. But I have been blown of MANY MANY TIMES!

The situations I've came across are that grad girls may not prefer undergrad guys because of the status quo (but that's more commonly seen among really old-fashioned-minded people), or undergrad guys may find it a little intimidating or slightly "inferior" to a grad girl and hence being a bit more distant to them. Perhaps some undergrad may find it a bit intimidating to talk to you, but that's probably the minority. Rest assure students for the least, from my uni, postgrad and undergrad mingle together real well:D

Girls more often than not prefer older guys. Personally I think it is biological - but that isn't important for now.

So if younger girls aren't interested in you, then it is not about your age but about YOU. Work on yourself, bro and become a guy who girls are attracted to.

I am an undergraduate, I haven't been approached by any grad students but I think I would feel intimidated not turned off. It's really stupid but I get that feeling with all people who are doing things I want to do (graduate school, medical school...). I feel less-than and just get quiet and reserved.

I guess I just imagined a girl would jump at the chance to meet a guy who is in med school. Like a girl who is a junior would want to date a guy who has two years like just like her, but end school while being with a doctor.

I've always had more respect for grad students, that's funny you have those reactions, I tend not to date people, but anyone I was ever close to wanting to date was a grad student to me its the best of both worlds, they are still in school- which I love but not immature like undergrads, well in my book definite plus,m

I do not feel like ANY GIRLS HERE are looking for a serious relationship at all.

If super boyfriend, being the greatest man they ever meet asks them out...they will totally blow them off just so that they can go to a party and have fun that night...

not me but I don't really hang out with girls. most of my friends are guys - sorry, but look I'm sure you're gonna find a girl you like, umm what about graduate students no one interest you? Anyways grad status has always been something I respected far more than undergrad - those girls are nuts,but they can't all be nuts.

It may seem that Graduate students seem intimidating because you are continuing your education while others just give up after a Bachelors. Don't worry. I bet you and your friend will find people who find it you attending Graduate school amazing. Its just a bit intimidating.

I actually find it attractive because it shows that you care for your future and for your education. :)

intelligence is incredibly attractive. I don't know why knowing that you're a grad student would make someone think that you don't have a good job or are married?!? maybe they're just intimidated. I'd take a grad student or a guy who has already finished uni and has a job over an undergrad any day, and I'm an undergrad student.

This seems surprising to hear this from people. I actually have already completed a Masters degree and am pursuing a Doctorate right now. I feel that the further up the ladder I get, the more undergrad girls give me less attention. Also, I am not super old or anything, I am only 25.

It seems to me that undergrad girls only date much older guys if they are complete losers with no job, no future and no hope.

Most of the doctoral students are 5-10 years older then me. Some even more. Most of the doctor students are married. I think that the girls hear I am a doctoral student and assume I am married. Or they see I am attractive and hear I am a doctoral student and assume I am married. They might even be intimidated...

Either way, I hope that one day I find a beautiful smart girl. I would think girls would want a guy who will have a doctorate at age 28, and be in shape while still being romantic.

I am a graduate student as well. I started grad school when I was 22 and 23 now. I get hit on by undergrads as well, but when I tell them I in grad school, they back off which I'm happy about because there is no way I would date someone younger than me. And they probably don't want to be with someone older than them. So that works out for me

As for you, I have no idea. But it's the way you're coming off?

When I was a undergrad, I dated my TA. I had no problems dating an older guy

As an undergrad myself, I'd say I definitely have interest in a postgrad guy generally being into older guys myself. I'd say my friends have no problem with it either, if a guys doing their masters year or PhD then impressive!!

I basically get the most social female attention from seniors, super seniors or other graduate students.

Also, when I say that I am a grad student I can see the interest leaving in their eyes. It is amazing to see.

Really? Maybe you're just looking in the wrong places for girls...or going after the wrong type of girl?

But they could probably be losing interest because they see you as a serious student. You have to realize that most freshman and sophomores (and many juniors) are really into the college party scene and into the fact that they are away from home.

I am at one of the biggest party schools in the country.

So they hear grad student, and they think that all I do is study and immediately assume that I am boring. See, now this makes sense.

I think that many undergrad girls want to find dumb and drunk college boy.

that's exactly it. and the fact that they are finally away from home and can do whatever they want (with whomever they want). they're still immature themselves (at least most of them anyway).
