Phone calls too much?

So I’ve been dating someone long distance since December. He said he’s not ready for a relationship because he was in a 10 year relationship about a 1.5 years ago. This past weekend I flew into his hometown and had dinner with his parents and met all of his childhood friends.

We see each other every 6-8 weeks. In between visits I would like to talk on the phone. We mostly text. Would it be too much if I ask him to have more phone conversations since he is not ready for a serious relationship? How do I go about this?

Why are you entangling yourself? He doesn't want to commit for whatever reason but wouldn't want you to go away. So the dinners with his close circle to make you feel important or whatever. Feels like some manipulation. In the end he'll say goodbye after his interest wears off. If you are confident that you'd not be heartbroken go with the flow , else you should maybe consider being a little cautious.

Message him once or twice a day and wait for him to react. If he tries talking to you more then he wants to maintain somewhat of a relationship. If he doesn’t care then that says a lot

He text messages me all throughout the day. His mom even messages me now.

Maybe he has mixed feelings and concerns/doubts about something. He could possibly of said that to create an emergency exit

I understand. He could be confused which is why he is telling me he doesn’t want a serious relationship but then is having me meet friends and family at the same time.

I hope that it does progress. But like you said. But if I force it or am a bit overbearing it may push him away or scare him.
