Why is my boyfriend in denial about his friends?

My boyfriend friends are two faced and they talk about him behind his back. He knows it even overheard them but refuses to defriend them. He talks greatly about his friends to me when they don't do the same with him.

Sometimes individuals talk trash about others in order to feel better about themselves. Personally, I don’t think real friends don’t talk trash about each other. They may point out mistakes, but often times that is accompanied by some advice on making better decisions.
