Seven years, with the young women who I proposed to twice, and who turned me down both times.

@WonderBell99 The first time she turned me down was right after she had graduated from the university (she is a lab tech). She claimed that if she married me now, she would never have a life of her own, and that she would go from being her father's daughter to my wife, and no life in between. Okay, I get it. She got a good job and bought her own car. She lived with me, and we took many good vacations together, me paying for most of them. After five years I dusted off the old engagement ring and proposed again, and once again the answer was no. When I asked what the problem was (this time) she answered, "You're really rather dull and predictable. I'd like to find a guy who is more exciting and spontaneous.

Here is spontaneous: "Pack your shit into your car and get out of my house- tonight!"

@WonderBell99 At age 17, you sound more matures than she was at 29, which was when I proposed the second time. She did find an exciting and spontaneous guy and married him. He never worked and ended up running up their credit cards before emptying their joint accounts and moving to Malta (an island in the Med), where he filed for divorce. She ended up filing for bankruptcy, had a breakdown and lost her job, and... well, there's a lot more, and none of it is good. We exchange one line Christmas greeting on WhatsApp, and that is it.

To be honest, if someone wants to settle down and get married, have kids etc, they should choose someone who has a stable life. If she is looking for the “typical” adventurous, roller coaster kinda love, it’s guaranteed to end awfully bad!

Regardless of her foolish behavior, I hope she is doing much better now and makes better life choices.
