When her dad got sick, she called me at 3am in tears. I immediately got out of bed and drove her to the airport to catch a last minute flight home. It was pouring rain. Got out of the car and just held her. No words. The smell of her perfume. The sounds of jets taking off. She nuzzled her head into my chest. The sniffles. I began to tear up listening to her cry. She trembled and asked me why id be crazy enough to wake up and drive her an hour to the airport. I simply whispered "because i love you".
