Anyone feel sad about this?

I talk to people for a while and have good chats with them, like them, and then they just cancel their account out of nowhere and I never see or hear them again.

No, I am not sad about that because that kind of behavior has, in the meantime, become more the rule than the exception.

People on certain social media don't really like to get too involved with others. Take me for example, I don't chat with others because I have made the negative experience that people want too much from me. Mainly if those people are from the opposite gender. The chats all start very innocently and then, in the course of time, invariably change to more personal data and information exchange.

I have experienced that some guys want to exchange nudes and that is when I decide to stop the conversation.

As a girl, it is always a little more complicated because a number of guys simply cannot chat without wanting to involve intimate things.

But we had really good and meaningful chats.

Mine chats are different and never about nudes or sex

Perhaps that those people had the feeling that the chats got out of hand and that too much time was invested in those chats.

When too many personal information has to be given to keep the chat alive, then they decide to end it by either blocking the person (s) or then to cancel their social account. That is the cowardly way to end it.

I think that close relationships on GaG are hard to come by. They are rare, which makes them the more special when found.

I've found a lot of hate on GaG, unfortunately, with a lot of people who never doubt themselves and feel that they have the right to pass judgement on other people. Just selfish and frankly, stupid. I like to think that I am not so arrogant.

I've also found good relationships and the communication I've had with the community has been a wonderful learning experience for me. Uplifting for the many times when I'm feeling down.

I suppose it depends what stage of your life that you're in. I have some virtual friends (including those I've met in person) that i've been in contact with for up to 17 years. Others I meet online and I'd swear they are my clone and suddenly one day they are gone. You learn to live with it although it hurts and depends how long youve know them (i. e a few months, years etc). Most people are replaceable to varying extents, don't think about it too much.

for sure. online is awful. it's hard enough in person and takes work.

note, I've done that before most memorably when I was really young, back when we wrote letters. I feel bad about it now, but I did it because I was ashamed of myself. so don't take it all personally.

I've noticed the same thing. Sometimes they deactivate their accounts within days of opening them, or other times it's long-term accounts where we've been chatting for months. It would be nice if they just told me they were closing their account so we could at least say goodbye.

It has happened to me too. You get a good connection with someone and out of nowhere they just disappear. I did take a break a while ago but I came back. Supposedly gag canceled my account for lack of activity so I started a new one and I let my previous friends know it was me. Actually gag never deleted my old account.
