If you're in your 40's, 50's, or older, do you still see things as if you're still in your 20's or at least a decade or two younger than you are?

I just saw a woman across the street getting into her car. No idea who she is, I never saw her before but, to me, if asked, I would've said she's an older woman. Mostly because of her hair style and the way she dresses, she LOOKS the way an older woman (to me, in my 20's eyes) would've seen her!! In reality, she MIGHT be a few years younger than me! But, I just don't feel much older than when I was in my mid to late 20's so, I just don't see myself as being much older. Also, her style equates with that of what I've always seen as that of an older woman! Kinda like my aunt Betty. She was in her 70's when I was in my 20's.

YES! I see elderly looking people and then find out they are 45 or 50. I don't know if they are old for their age or if I am young for my age. I know I'm not alone either. I was on a flight with one of my daughters in a small aircraft and the flight attendant was very talkative. She was on her second career at the ripe age of 48! My daughter and I were blown away. We both thought she was in her late 60s. 😳

Some people age differently. My uncle Mike and his sister, mom, were both grey in their late 30's to early 40's. Dad, on the other hand, was only just starting to get a few strands of grey in his early 80's!! He died at 81 and some people at the funeral couldn't believe he was even 61, let alone 81!!

No… I would hope not. That would be a boring person. That would be a person who doesn’t change, doesn’t improve… just stays stagnant.


There are some things I will probably always view similarly to how I saw things in my teen years, in my early 20’s, through to today. Perhaps at my core, I’m the same basic person, but I hope I have become a better person over all. Otherwise, it would seem like a wasted life if I didn’t grow a bit.

And about age: When I was 16, I thought I'd have everything figured out by 30, and I'd be sort of "old." At 40... ish... I still feel 20, except the horrible version of 20 where I'm in annoying pain most of the time, and I'm pissed off a lot, mostly because of the dull pain and ache.

In their 40's, my parents dressed stereotypically "old." My friend's parents dress a lot younger at a compared age. THEIR pants aren't up to their armpits. Because of his hair, his "fashion," how he talked, and partly because he never took care in the sun (he was very wrinkly by 40), people thought my dad was in his 60's or 70's when he was early 40's/50's. Everyone thought he was my grandfather or great grandfather...

I had some teachers that I thought were old, but with some logic, I realize I'm probably hitting their ages. Most of the teachers seemed to "dress their age" - but there were some who looked 70/80 at 50, because they dressed, and acted, much older than they probably were.

To me, stuff that happened in the `90's was just a few years ago!! I think of the `80's as just a decade or two ago! It certainly doesn't FEEL like it was 30 to 40 years ago!

Well, at the moment, I'm not so great at running, either but, it's mostly because I've spent most of the 3 years or so just sitting and watching t. v. or working on the computer!! There's no place TO walk, up here and, pretty much no place to go!! At least at MY house, I had all sorts of places I could go, even just for a walk,, I could catch buses to get where I wanted to go or even walk to & from them!! I USED to be EXTREMELY active!!

I need to get back into being more active!! I lost all of it around the same time! The band broke up, my brother ruined my bike and then it vanished, we had to fill in the pool, I lost my job, I lost my girlfriend... now, I've lost my house and might even be losing this one, now!!
