Coffee demands and control issues?

This morning I was up several hours before my girlfriend, in which case I used my time to clean and organise my house. When she woke up she kindly began cooking breakfast. While she was cooking breakfast I emptied out the coffee from yesterday, in which case she began to scream at me, accusing me to disrespect because she wanted to use that coffee. I was only trying to help, I wanted her to have fresh coffee. I could not calm her down and calmly told her that if she wanted to talk to me that way then she can leave. She told me cruel things like, “go fuck other people, and I will to.” I cannot reconcile how she can love me and treat me this way. Was I wrong in calming telling her that I would not tolerate this behavior and that if she wants to treat me this way then she can leave?

She got that upset over day old coffee?

Maybe she was long brewing it? But even then that's a huge escalation to jump to.

in my opinion, there's something else going on. Maybe medical, maybe something else - either way, that's a really weird escalation.

You did the right thing. No one deserves to be treated so poorly. Especially over something as insignificant as old coffee. Perhaps it wasn’t really about the coffee? Has she been stressed about anything else lately? She could have been projecting that stress onto you, and the coffee was just the last straw that made her snap. Which, still does not make it okay by any means.
