I did that with the woman from New York. I couldn’t tell you if the frequency or duration was excessive or not. What I can say is it was sexually frustrating not being able to be in each other’s presence. It made both of us angry with each other. We did that for about 4 months before she found someone else because I had no job prospect or social ties, besides maybe one cousin in New York.

It was unhealthy obsessing about her because I was out of work at the time while she was studying to get her nurse practitioner license. She was going places while I was spinning my tires. It’s why I think having a vibrant and active social life with people/coworkers besides one’s spouse is important. It keeps people grounded. I know I felt a lit better when she found someone else because she was inaccessible after that and out of my hands.

We used to call often while doing LD for 4-5 years. Sometimes a few minutes. Sometimes a few hours. Just depends what we were doing. We both have our own lives but we always made time. The most time I spend on phone is talking to my kids. The adult ones live in different countries and we miss each other.

With my husband we just align things, so the calls are short and meaningful but no missed call stays unanswered.

The funny fact is that when we started our relationship we were talking by phone a lot as we lived in two different cities. We could spend long hours on the phone every night. I was permanently sleep deprived, but it felt so good 😀
