How Would You Describe Love?

Question

Is love giving from abundance or sharing what little we have? Is it vulnerability? Does it require nothing or everything? Does love hide pain or enter into it? Can love be experienced without pain and risk? What do you think?

The problem with love is that it's a feeling / energy you can share with someone you care about. But then the word is also used as a more extreme version of liking / appreciating. So the English vocabulary doesn't do it justice which makes it hard to explain.

For me when I truly love someone that's not something that can just easily go away, they'd have to change as a person towards someone I could no longer love and even then i'd still love who they were.

So on one hand its the fact of knowing that I love everything about her, in the other side of it its a special place in my heart. Then when it comes together its a sensation I can give to my lover telepathically, and to her it will feel like an intense loving warmth and deep deep caring and affection. Her being will feel that I truly deeply care to be one with her, and that every fiber of my being appreciates her and wants that unity. And then if you're truly compatible, you can even feel yourselves become one.

Its so hard to describe and you have to experience what that feels like for yourself. Just like someone isn't just going to be able to describe what an orgasm feels like you can't just describe what true loving unity feels like. But that energy and intense loving you carry for someone can definitely be felt, and no its not sexual desire or mere appreciation it's very much its own energy shared with those you care about most.

Some people will say love is simple, but nothing about it is simple. It's one of the hardest concepts to define, to the point where many people have different ways of defining it; it's subjective. It encompasses so many different aspects of affection.

The dictionary definition of love is: an intense feeling of deep affection.

But love goes much deeper than that. You can love someone even if you hate them. You can also NOT love them if you hate them. You can never see someone in your life and love them from afar. You can love someone and treat them harshly. You can love someone so much you would die for them. You can love children that aren't your own. You can love your parents or siblings, friends, partners... you can even love objects or topics.

It truly is a hard concept to define, but for me I feel like the easiest way to define it is that if you lose something you love, it will greatly hurt you. I'm not gonna write a whole article on it, but there's definitely a ton more that can be said on it.

I would describe it as a temporary response to a very large release of neurochemicals that luckily resolves in a few weeks or months. These chemicals make you feel really good to begin with but when they were off you feel like hell.
