Girls, is it acceptable for you age difference as 4 years, for example you are 30 and man is 26?
1 yWell, I can't go that you but I've gone out with guys a couple years younger. At my age it's a bad deal usually since 18-22 year olds are pretty immature.

1 yI would be open to it but the odds of finding a younger man with the required emotional intelligence/maturity tends to be a tall ask.
522 ReplyHow mature does a guy have to be? What are the benchmarks?
- 1 y
Mostly mature in his ability to take accountability for mistakes without falling into self depreciation and us having enough common ground to have decent conversations/understand one another.
Youthful playfulness is fun, being irresponsible or expecting me to be his mother is not. Well, presumably the younger guy you were dating would want to bang you, so I doubt he would want you to be remotely like his mother.
Doesn't just about everyone have problems taking accountability for their mistakes? Like regardless of age?
Have you ever tried dating a younger guy and it didn't go well? Or you just think it's so unlikely to go well that you wouldn't bother?- 1 y
Youβd be surprised, though I more meant mothering as far as taking care of him/the house. Most men arenβt taught to pull their weight around the house in the west (or much of the rest of the world for that matter). That and needing me to bug him to talk/open up at all/doing all the emotional labour in the relationship.
Yup, older men can be immature too. Itβs not all young men, just a concern about the group as a collective. Individuals vary. To be honest, speaking as a member of the younger guy community, I guess most guys probably don't start looking for a serious relationship, like what a woman would call a serious relationship, until they're out of college. And maybe not even that soon.
What about a short-term physical casual kind of thing with a younger guy? Would you try that? Or do women in their thirties not do short term physical casual stuff?- 1 y
Women in our thirties tend to be one of the more sexually active groups apparently. Some certainly do short term stuff when we are in a position to do so. Most of my gal pals that age are poly and a couple have dated younger men. We like their enthusiasm π€
so you WOULD consider a younger guy for short-term stuff. As long as he picked up after himself, and was enthusiastic?
- 1 y
I would.
But the younger guy would have to ask you out I guess. You probably wouldn't make the first move. Or maybe I'm wrong about that?
What's the youngest you would go? No more than five years younger? Or like you don't care as long as he's legal?- 1 y
If a younger guy (not a teen/ under 19) were to slip into my DMs I would reply as long as he is a gentleman until given permission to be otherwise.
- 1 y
And Iβm not sure, legal here is 16+ but I canβt imagine going below 18-19 even so. For casual thereβs not really a specific number age gap wise that I look for, if I find them attractive and theyβre legal and I keep finding them attractive after they open their mouth we are headed in the right direction.
For dating the number again doesnβt really matter but itβs unlikely our lives will be in similar places if heβs that much younger, so compatibility is a concern. So a teen guy who was attracted to you would be out of luck.
Because teen guys are too stupid to deal with? Or because you don't want to risk violating any laws? You're 35 right? So if you dated an 18 year old, he'd be like seventeen years behind you. I guess that could be awkward even for something short-term.
It seems like you would have a serious long-term committed relationship with a guy who was like 36-40, and maybe the 18 year old would be this short term thing that made you wonder what the hell you were thinking.- 1 y
Probably, depending what age of teen we are talking about. 18-19 I would consider.
Laws, social barriers/condemnation and my morals/conscience prevent me from dating men who are still high school age. - 1 y
I dated a woman 18 years older for 5 years soβ¦ π€·ββοΈ
If you dated an 18 year old, would you feel like you were taking advantage of him? Because he's so naive or immature or whatever?
I tried to message you but I guess I can't. But you're welcome to message me if you feel like it. Just a thought.
- 1 y
My level is still too low apparently for messaging.
Try following me and see if you can message me then.

I would be fine dating an 18 year old
It kinda seems like you'd be MOSTLY fine dating an 18 year old.
Like you'd be fine if it was just you two on a date, but if your friends saw you with him, you'd be embarrassed.- 1 y
Maybe? At 18 Iβm less bothered by that, I was more referring to social consequences to dating younger than that but thatβs not the main reason.
Anonymous(45 Plus)1 yI don't date men. You should have restricted the question to responses from females only.

My aim on Girls Ask Guys is to turn those dating uncertainties into confidence boosters! Age is just a number, especially when it comes to love! Dating a younger man could add a fresh twist to the romance and a bit of playful energy to your life. A four-year gap? That's just a hop, skip, and a jump! If the connection is genuine and there's mutual respect, then unleash your inner cougar and go for it! 😄💫 Lovebombing age stereotypes, one date at a time!

1 yIt would be like a step backwards
everything I learned
I'd have to teach him
would be too annoying
I don't think
I could live with that
however unless if
I could never find
somebody else on
my mental level
Cuz even my personality can be too energetic for my family and others
And I've never really
Clicked with an older guy
Before
Sexually maybe I have
But personality wise
They couldn't put up with me
So maybe I could understand
Where the younger guy
Is coming from
And I'd find him more
Relatable if not only
Dateable

Anonymous(45 Plus)1 yWell, my boyfriend is 13 years younger than me, so I suppose 4 years wouldn't be that big of a deal. haha
But the reason why it's been working out in my relationship is that he's very mature/compatible with me in terms of maturity. I was actually super hesitant to even give him a chance at first because I was worried about a possible maturity difference. However, after I found out that wasn't the case I fell for him quite fast. haha

1 yNo, I couldn't deal with the lack of maturity. Even at my own age, the lack of maturity is painful.

I hear, that lady. π So how much older would you go on the same token aka same flip? π
- 1 y
@paledreams five years is okay, ten years is preferred, fifteen years is the limit. For a real relationship. For something more situational there's really no limit.
1 yMen my age tend to be boys not men yet so no.

I like women who are earlier 20s to mid 20s or at the very least 18 plus (aka a legal adult and above) - I think I would gel best with a woman who's 24 yet as hot as 20. πβοΈπΏπ
- 1 y
Or vice versa a woman who's 30 yet could pass for 20 lol π
