Falling in love with someone else when you are married is due to the fact that there is a huge problem in your marriage which both partners are not working to resolve together. Marriage takes 2 people. Both need to be responsible to make it work. Some when you love someone else, it is cause by the fact that you are losing attraction towards your partner. Loss of attraction comes from being ignored for too long, some guys and in laws taking you as a servant for your partner and not recognizing your efforts, lot of criticism, this you will realize that there were no real acceptance for the real you, which is not real love. And also when the two of you can't communicate when there are problems, it will only get worst. Another huge reason to look elsewhere is having too much disrespect from your partner which is also cause by lack of acceptance. All of this together makes someone hate to be this marriage. They might want to leave but is still too attached to their married partner and stay but if nothing is done to resolve it, at first the partner will get attracted to the person who will treat him or her better.

Falling in love with someone else could happen for a lot of reasons. I think my relationship in the past, before kids could be described as polygamous. It wasn't that my wife lacked anything, but that it was exciting, fun, and I could do it.

I did love two of the women I was with during that time. We just had good relationships and enjoyed the time we spent together. It wasn't too complicated. The puppy love was far more common, but that excitement wears off very quickly.

For monogamous people to do so, they have to not care, have never cared, or never thought you were exclusive in the first place regardless of what words were said. I mean, before they can fall in love with someone else they need to meet and get close to someone else while they're still with you, ignoring what they're doing to the marriage that won't allow it.

If people were getting in the marriage everything what they want and need then they would never brake up. Sometimes it's even a curiosity of something what they never tried. Sometimes it's simply routine, nothing new in their life. Sometimes partner can't give everything what partner wants (lets say the husband is bi and craves other guy - wife can't replace other guy).

It's the same with work, after a year or couple years your work will be crazy boring to you. You will be thinking about changing it, but you realize that you can't afford to just quit. But sometimes will show up some other opportunity and you will take it.

It's good to continuously make some changes in your relationship. To surprise your spouse about something, allow your spouse to surprise you.

More you have "same days" with your spouse, higher the chances that you'll get bored.

On other hand it may happen that your spouse doesn't meet your needs or vice versa. Let's say one of you needs sex 2x a day and other one needs 1x a week. You are not compatible. You will survive few months, maybe couple years, but it will not be enough for you. Sex needs are core and basic needs for every human being. Your spouse might be the best lover on Earth, but is not giving you enough. So it will not work in a long run.

Complacency I think is ons thing. People get used to the same thing day after day and want to feel that exciting feeling of a new relationship and with that excitement comes chemicals in the brain that make you fall in love. It's not real love in my book because you can't start a relationship based on cheating and lying.
