What does it mean when a person heart reacts to your text message?

This is a real question I'm not trolling I don't use this feature. Therefore, I have no clue as to what it means when a person uses it as a respond to my text message. My friend heart reacted my message I sent her yesterday when I told her the Christmas card, she sent me was cute and thanked her for it. A guy heart reacted my message when I told him I want to be friends and have sex with him.

I know other people use this feature as well so can someone tell me (without being rude) what this means?
