Why can people not communicate what they mean?

If you play stupid childish games you’re going to win stupid prizes. Such as chasing someone you care about off…. Because they feel like if you cared about them you wouldn’t treat them like that.

When you need space tell your partner you need it and when you need support communicate. Expecting someone to read your mind is a game you’ll never win unless there is great communication later on you may know what one another needs/wants before they have to ask.

Telling someone to go away when you really want them. Then getting angry they weren’t there. They are respecting your wishes to be left alone. The same as if you say it’s fine and bring it up later.

Making threats to walk away…. At some point someone’s not going to beg you to stay anymore. They will show you the door themselves if it’s a bluff because people don’t have time for that. At some point people want someone who genuinely wants them back.

Playing hard to get…. If someone’s showing interest in you…. And you don’t show it back. That man or that woman is going to loose interest either assuming you’re not into them…. Or you’re a one sided person therefore the relationship will be one sided. People want mutual effort if they’re making all the moves and you’re not initiating anything or shutting them down. Eventually they’re going to move on DUMBEST game there is. Because then they act shocked when they move on

I think different people respond to attention differently. Not everyone who is comfortable sharing their intense feelings of love or appreciation will get that back from their person of interest (especially if that person is shy). You have to follow simple Ethos/Logos/Pathos to understand the person you're addressing... to understand how they express their appreciation and affection, which may be different from yours.

Having said this, I completely agree that playing games (hot and cold, hard to get, etc etc) is unfair to the person who is sincere in sharing genuine feelings they have for you.

I think most of the time we try our best to protect the other person’s feelings and make sure that we’re not hurting them when we are trying to communicate things that we need for ourselves and in that consideration, sometimes we don’t allow ourselves to ask for the things that we really need or want

Having a conversation with one another. Being open and honest there may be some little fights. But it’s nothing compared to holding resentment inside and it finally breaks or leaks out in other areas.

A lot of times before a dam breaks the water will start leaking out. That’s the emotions leaking out over small stuff in small areas before finally the flood gates open and it’s never pretty

People are not born with excellent verbal or written communication skills. They are developed by role models, intelligence, education, empathy, and interaction with other people over time.

So, it's not surprising that many people never develop even rudimentary communication skills. Vocabulary, grammar, spelling, and punctuation are all generally miserable. In fact it's the norm, not the exception. The world is mainly populated by people who can't organize their thoughts and lack the vocabulary to express themselves to other people effectively. On the flip side, the other idiots they are trying to communicate with have no ability to listen and process what they are hearing plus, their own cognitive bias will not allow them to even consider different opinions. Sadly, they aren't even aware of their limitations. They think they are killing it.

I think a lot of people struggle to communicate because they either don't actually know what they mean, they don't have the words to describe it, or they're worried that the other person won't respect their wishes.
