Guys, I have huge questions for all men?

My boyfriend and I are in separation at this time. We have weird relationship where we are in open relationship. He has this “friend” who he has been seeing off and on since January. He and I have been together since October.

He gets to see her daily as they live in the same town and go to the same workout facility. He told me that they can't be together as she is married. Recently I would say within the last month she has decided that she wants to move out and get her own place. I don’t know if there was talk about divorce with her significant other. Since then, things have changed between us. I feel that he has feelings for her, but he also tells me that he loves me and that he wants to be with me. But he knows that he will just be a rebound for her and he doesn’t want that situation. so that’s the reason why we are taking a break so he can reflect on what’s truly in his heart and what is truly lust.

He did say to me on multiple occasions that he doesn’t want to lose me. He even stated to me that the thought of her being with someone else doesn’t bother him, but it does make him a little jealous if I were to be with someone else. He also told me that he’s afraid that I will catch feelings for another male if I were to have a “friend”. He also told me that he wants stability and he knows that I’m that person.

I guess my question is after you read this is should I text him? Good morning and good night. Ask him how his day is going. Should I just see where this goes? I’m afraid he’s gonna think I’m ghosting him and get mad. What are your thoughts?

I can’t make your decisions for you , but understand you are being played by a guy that likes his cake and likes to eat it too. Open relationships are not real relationships, all they are , is 2 selfish people enjoying the benefits with each other , while being open to date and screw other people. Your boyfriend likes the convenience of you but he truly doesn’t love you , if he truly loved and cared about you , he wouldn’t be open to other girls’ period. So if you like being a convenience to a guy , that’s clearly up to you , but sadly all you are is a convenience to him. Also people that actually love and care about each other , don’t take breaks from each other period. They will fix what is broken together , not the other way around. He clearly wants a break from you , so he can weigh his options with this other girl , I guarantee he is having sex with her and keeping you on the back burner just in case things don’t work out with this other girl , he is clearly blowing smoke up your ass and sadly you are falling for it. If things do work out with this other girl , be prepared to no longer be a priority in his life , unless he tries to keep you as a side piece while he is with this new girl. So it’s up to you if you want to continue being a convenience or go find someone that makes you a priority.

It really sounds like he's "settling" for you while still being interested in other women. This friend being married as the reason he can't be with her sounds like a really, REALLY lame excuse. He's still attracted to her and wants to spend time with her. And now that he's about to lose something he felt secure about, he's panick love bombing you in response. Hate to sound rude but take the hint. He's not faithful.

That’s part of being in open relationship, is knowing that there will be 3rd party on both ends or at least one end for time being. I know this when we first started dating that he want open monogamous relationship. And if I wasn’t OK with it at that time, then I shouldn’t have gotten into it. Honestly, it doesn’t really bother me. I just haven’t chose anybody for myself because I’m kind of picky.🤣

I may only concern is her. I feel like she is trying to “ weasel” her way in our relationship. 🤣

As someone who is ethically monogamous, this sounds terrible. If you're going to have any open relationship there should be clear boundaries for everyone and if you have to make a post asking questions, then there is a problem that needs to be fixed by you and your partner.
